How did we allow Minnesota to once again take our WRs out of the game? Romo wasn't even attempting to look downfield. Last year i guess you could blame the pass rush. But that wasn't the case yesterday. Who is at fault here? Were we outcoached? Does Romo get the blame? I have to believe our WRs were winning some of the battles downfield but im not sure. We've got 3 6'2 studs at WR and we dont even give them a chance downfield against a pretty average secondary???

O-Line

Exactly!!!! When you have no confidence that the OLine can protect the QB, every other play is a screen pass. They figured that would take away Minnesota's agrresiveness coming off the end.

I started a thread that basically stated the season is only 5 weeks old and we are ALREADY coaching around this Oline. We badly miscalculated this Oline. Not sure why you make the investement in Miles, Dez, and Roy if you do not have the protection to push the ball downfield.

Miles, Dez and Roy had 3 touchdowns between them, 4 if you count the one called back for crap. I think the strategy to compensate for the O line was a good one, but the execution failed overall. If a couple of those checkdowns had gone for something, it would've been a different game.

They were dropping constantly. Those playcalls were PERFECT. If we can get Felix isolated in space ona DB with 10 yards to work with you have to take that EVERY time.

The trouble is, Felix Jones could not make a play. He had almost no YAC on those plays. He couldn't make the first guy miss....it was the first time since we drafted him that I rued not picking CJ a bit.

This. Felix HAS to make some plays. It was downright painful to watch him consistently gain little to no yardage on those.

I don't agree with Felix not making plays - I think most of those checkdowns or swing passes or whatever you want to call them were atrocious. Felix got the ball 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage every time and there were always multiple defenders waiting. Seems to me we could do a little better with the play designs to move some of the defenders, but I don't think we focus on that much. We ran the check down about 10 times yesterday and threw in some badly executed screens that failed. The other times Felix got the ball we tried to run it up the gut against two of the biggest defensive tackles in the league. I don't know who decided on this game plan but I can see it was all to protect Romo. I think we needed a few more slants, a couple of down field shots, and some quick tight-end passes to get the defenders to be honest. Too bad - I think Red called a very bad game yesterday.

Disagree, man. Felix did great in space until the 6th-10th time we ran the play. Then the Vikings were there to make the tackle because they saw it already.

Exactly, Romo had about 3 seconds most of the game. Felix, make someone miss for cryin' out laud!

Can't say im upset with plays called or anything like that.

Just penalties and turnovers need to be cleaned up and we'll win every game.

X's and O's should not be the focus with this team.

Focus, Discipline, and playing with heart is all that matters for the Cowboys to have success..

It wasn't exactly a "play to Felix".

It was just a checkdown to Felix after the receivers ran off all the coverage.
