Powerful stuff. Several of the pictures are very moving. The photo of the firefighter memorial honoring those who perished fighting the fire for over a week is one in particular. They made the ultimate sacrifice. How many more people would have sicken or died, living inside and outside of Russia, if not for their heroic efforts? The picture of the dog carcass made me wonder. Did the dog starve to death after being abandoned inside a home during the hectic evacuation of the city? Did the dog die from the initial radiation exposure before starving to death? Was it a stray dog, with the misfortune of wandering into the abandoned town scavenging for food, never escaping the deadly invisible cloud of toxicity? Creepy.

My thoughts exactly, especially concerning the dog.

I was also thinking he wandered in "The area" and died from the exposure, eventually.

Weird tho.........seems other wildlife does ok.

FWIW - that's a great site for pics and information. Has a lot of categories. I really like the World War(s) stuff.

They also did a piece on the flooding and fires here in Colorado.
