Round 1: Pick#27 Bruce Campbell OT Maryland (6'7" 310 lbs.)
He's had a few injuries that will allow him to slide to us. He's a freakish athlete and is extremely strong, his strength is pass protection.

Round 2: Pick#59 Nate Allen FS South Florida (6'1" 205 lbs.)
2nd on his team with 79 tackles, Big East Defensive Player of the Week accolades, & led team with 4 picks on the season.

Round 3: Pick#91 Mardy Gilyard WR Cincinnati (6'0" 179 lbs.)
A real playmaker at WR, also excels at KR and PR, racked up over 1,100 yds and 11 TD's on the season.

Round 4: Pick#123 Akwasi Owusu-Ansah CB Indiana (6'1" 205 lbs.)
His first name means, ``Born on Sunday.'' Excellent corner and playmaker at return duties. Projected to the 2nd round but will slide to 4rth due to shoulder injury. Mid round steal..

Round 5: Traded to Denver 2 years ago for Montrae Holland.
Holland showed some real power and a nasty mean streak for us 2 years ago and then he got hurt. Not sure what's up with this guy now but he was inactive for the better part of the season.

Round 6: Pick#187 Marshall Newhouse OG TCU (6'3" 326 lbs.)
Projects to guard but can also play tackle very well, has nice footwork and strength, a very versatile player.

Round 7: Pick#219 Eric Olsen C Notre Dame (6'4" 310 lbs.)
Only gave up one sack in 450 pass attempts, has also played guard. Solid in-line blocker, handles tackles on his own, does well with audibles as well. Late round steal who may creep up the charts...

Its really doesn't matter about the size of a WR anymore because of the NFL rules.

I see where your going with this draft, some of them i like, some i have to do some more breakdowns on.

first one, bruce campbell, he is good with strength and a good athletic player, but he has missed some games, this report came too about him i posted yesterday;
OT Bruce Campbell, Maryland: Looks the part of an NFL tackle and will run well, but Campbell is undisciplined and his pass protection technique needs work.
Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland, 6-7, 310, junior.
When I visited the Maryland campus last year for a story on Vernon Davis, I, of course, had to check in with Terps strength coach Dwight Galt. As predicted, Galt gushed about Davis' weight-room prowess. But he also mentioned he had another pupil in Davis' mold. That's Campbell, who like Davis is a muscular, freakish athlete who will put up eye-popping numbers in the weight room. Rang said that Campbell is expected to perform so well in the 40-yard dash and agility tests that if he doesn't it could take him down the boards. In that way, he is a victim of high expectations. The most important part of the combine for Campbell, however, may be the interview process. Campbell only has 17 career starts at Maryland. He missed three starts as a junior last season --his first season as a full-time starter - due to an MCL sprain and turf toe, and he probably could have benefited from another full season. Because of that, there was some surprise that he chose to enter the draft as an underclassmen. Teams will be very interested in how he responds when they ask, "So, why are you here?"

so i have some more work to do on him;

Nate Allen I like the pick;

Gilyard is to slow to me, 4.51 in 40, i would rather have someone like jacoby ford with game breaking speed for slot and kickoff and punt returns, Speed KIlls like jimmy johnson said;

Ansak I can live with;

Newhouse I can live with as a big mean OG for us, but I would rather have
the big nasty mean center from new mexico Erik Cook, I want a big mean nasty smart football player that has more intensity than gurode

Of course Campbell has technique issues but that isn't an uncommon thing.

The question we should ask is can he develop into an outstanding LT and the answer is absolutely.

Let the coaches worry about the technique issues.

That is a cherry pick mock....aka a be patient and let it fall to you mock.

Not entirely out of the question.

Gilyard isn't anything close to slow.

Watch the film.

4.51 in the 40 to me is slow,
whereas jacob ford runs like a 4.32, awhole lot faster

im not trying to sound like i am knocking the pick, just my preference is for speed with cbs, wrs, punt and kickoff returners, remember crayton runs a 4.53

i like the potential of the big OT from maryland, but being freakish with weights and speed isnt all there is to it, its what you do on the football field and being able to play through injuries, you have to do that as an offensive linenemen

Yeah Gilyard is a football player 1st and foremost. Thats all that matters to me.

Put him on turf and its over.

gilyard won't fall to the late 3rd, other then that pretty good. Allen would be a steal in the late 2nd. if philly doesn't take a safety in the 1st I have a hard time believing they pass up on him in round 2.

i think you might be overlooking something with gilyard, most of the dbs he went against had poor speed, like 4.55 or 4.6

i would still rather have someone like jacoby ford or mccluster,

Hes just another Roscoe Parrish.

Do you mean guys like Devin McCourty and Jerome Murphy?

Or were you referring to a guy like Darius Butler out of the Big East last year?

no, what i meant if you look at the corners and safeties that gilyard is running against and breaking long runs etc, those players are slow 4.55 or 4.6, if you go back and look at this years crop of safeties and corners, most of them run a 4.52 to 4.6

a few run a 4.4 but most of them except for the elite ones like eric berry run a slower time

Bruce with a year or two in the Pro's could turn into something really special. I don't see him starting right away that's for sure...

I hope your right, like I said I will try to do some breakdown stuff on him, but we do need a young Erik Williams mean, fast, quck and nasty. Like Daryl John... the Moose said, Erik was the meanest football player on the field that he ever saw.

Thats what we need at OT.

Got any info on Daryl John? I haven't seen his name on any mock sheets or prospect rankings...
