Like I said, I disagree with your opinion, because I do know people who aren't considered lower income who live on the south side.

I get that it's the rep they have and much of it deserved. I used to feel the same way until the past five years or so. I brushed the whole area with the same swatch until I saw for myself.

Nothing wrong with being in the burb, because I know peeps in the burbs too. Just saying I've changed my opinion over time after being the area more significantly the past few years.

So where is all the violence coming from? It's not just because its a big city. Crime is down some in many big cities but not Chicago.

I'm not sure what you're asking me.

The only thing I objected to was that he alluded to the crime being only on the south side of the city. The article noted some of the crimes occurred in other parts of the city, as well. I simply maintain that after having spent significant time in that area the past few years, the south side doesn't seem as bad as its rep. It has its questionable pockets of neighborhoods that are in some parts of that area, but no worse than other big cities, I imagine.

I had no issue with what you posted, because of what I hear from people who live there, as well, who have said similar things.

I hope my question didn't seem adversarial to you as it was an honest question with no intent to offend. Here is a link to where homicides were commited this year: http://homicides.redeyechicago.com/.

I don't know Chicago so maybe you can tell me if most of these are 'South' Chicago.

So typical big city problems in a big city?

Nothing to see here.

That many shootings in a short period of time is a typical big city problem?

Well, under I55 by I90 is the south side, getting a little south towards Indiana, I am not sure if some of that is by Alsip, but I would still consider that a Lite version of the city, also with going east towards Melrose Park. They are not Chicago, but it's pretty much the city.

Pretty much. Just that these are reported.

Oh, I wasn't offended. I really didn't know what you were asking me.

On that page that you sent, it's pretty spread out, but yes, of the 14 homicides cited on that link, nine are on the southern part of the city, although a couple lean to the west, as well.

I'm still not getting the point as to what I specifically objected to based on the commentary from the original article.

Don't know about that cas. I live in a big city and 24 shootings in that amount of time is unusual no matter where you live.

I guess I'm jaded living among DC/Baltimore :)

Love to travel and visit big cities.

Would not want to live there.
