Rare form of cancer. RIP to one of the all time greats. He helped Miles Davis usher in the electric age of jazz, and was on the forefront of the development of the fusion genre. His work with Return To Forever with Al DiMeola, Lenny White and Stanley Clarke was revolutionary. I especially loved his Akoustic Band in the early 90s. Will be greatly missed.

I was listening to him in college in the mid to late 70s when record and cassette shops were still in existence. RIP.
