I call this thread that because there are two distinct camps when it comes to the first pick inthe draft. One camp would like a pass rusher or CB (chicken) to enhance the defense. Theother camp will take a stout interior lineman (egg) to solidify the offense. Eack supposes that thier way will make the other unit and team better. I submitfor discussion that we should take the interior lineman or egg route for the followingreasons:
The offense has elite type players at the skillpositions and with a reasonable line can impose their will on teams they areplaying against. Barring injuries (Romo, Murray, Felix, Austin and FB) or Growing pains (DEZ) we haveall of the skill pieces to do anything at any time we want.

Being able to run the ball when we NEED to willkeep leads at the end of the game and the defense on the sidelines. Too manytimes we have been unable to control the clock through a run game to sealvictory late.
Currently, we use the pass to hopefully setupthe run. More times than not, we cannot establish enough of a running game tostick with it, and we become one dimensional. This allows opposing defenses topin their ears back and tee off on Romo. It would be nice to actually have anoffense that could run what they want effectively given what a defenseprovides. If they stack for run, we pass. But, if they play pass, we can effectivelyrun against them.
We now have 3 active and young ILBs vs. the 1 wehad last year. We have a nice press coverage corner now that has proven consistencyto play opposite Jenkins. We have upgraded the safety position to some degree. With these additions through free agency, we should be able to occasionallyallow another second for our current pass rush to get to the opposing QB. I don’tthink we are one pass rusher away from being elite on defense. Not do I feelthat we a going to find an upgrade to Jenkins or Scandrick in the draft. Wecould find an upgrade to safety, but again I don’t think it enough to make uselite.
We will have improved play from the line just byswitching Free and Tyron. We will also have a year to improve the strength oflast year’s LAMBS. I still hold hope forKiller being our center of the future.

Drafting a blue chip interior lineman is farless risky that drafting a DE, OLD, or CB at the 14th pick.
If we can’t get Decastro at 14, I would like totrade back for a stud center or another of the above average guards available inthe first and garner some additional picks.
With a solid line, we can be elite on offenseand we are only 1-2 players away from that happening. We cannot draft enough defensiveplayers to be elite on defense.
I’d rather be the Saints (Bountygate not withstanding) than the Ravens
(please excuse grammar, structure, or spelling)
