Didn't watch either in school. Not even gonna pretend to know enough to choose. I just hope they both stay healthy and ball out this year.

Jourdan Lewis and its not close.

The knock on lewis by most is height. But this kid held his own against bigger strong WRs. He covers better tackles equal or better and makes more plays on the ball. The closest in terms of cover skills in this draft was tabor. People really need to get over his size because where lacking in height Lewis makes up in length. Lewis had the longest arms for CBs in this draft. Thats how he is able to cover taller, bigger WRs.
That's not even close to being accurate.

I think you are wrong on the arm length.

My son was born in March this year and I named him Michael James..........after Jordan my favorite basketball player and Irvin my favorite football player.

CA is better IMO. Faster, bigger and not so "handsy". Watch a lot of JL tape and he got away with murder in the Big Ten. He'll have trouble adjusting to the NFL's interpretation of interference. He also ran a 4.6 at the combine. Not exactly a burner, but quick in space. Thus, the slot corner designation.

So what I'm hearing is if a CB can be war daddy, he'd be ours. Is he really all that?

Awuzie provides unique ability from the Nickel, he give you the added dimension of speed on the field while not sacrificing much in the run game. He's a bit like the CB version of Myles Jack, and embraces the physicality of the sport. His click and close ability and explosion is elite, and arrives with bad intentions. Has a great feel for blitzing and jumping underneath route concepts.

Lewis is more of your traditional cover CB, and don't listen to those who say he's limited to the slot. Yeah, he's probably an inch shorter than you'd like but 5'10 is not gonna kill you outside, and he plays bigger than he is. He'll stay in the hip pocket of receivers all day and challenge at the catch point consistently. He's the type of CB who can frustrate WRs as the game wears on.

Both of these guys are excellent gets, and I'd bet on them locking down starting jobs sooner rather than later. Scandrick and Carroll are just here to keep the seats warm.

By December I'd expect us to be running plenty of Nickel packages with a personnel looking like;

Byron---------------------Heath/Woods
Brown----------------------------------------Awuzie----------------Lewis
Jaylon------------Lee

I am. I heard that on the draft show. Usually I'll check but I didn't. Still has long arms for his height. He showed his length on that into vs wisconsin

Yes he is. He's short but he gets in wrs body like a big cb. He's not afraid and makes plays no matter who. He gave up 6 receptions all yr. People can like all these measurable, but I'll take the play on the field. And the guy will hit and tackle you. Him and awuzie are the same type of cb. But for me what gives lewis the edge is his cover skills

Awnser it from whatever angle you see fit

Who do you feel is the better prospect

Cage matching not nessesary
Cheeto can play every position; Corner, Nickel, Safety. Lewis may be able to, but he is limited by size. But in terms of approach to their craft, they are very similar.

this fear of shorter corners vs taller WRs is so dramatic lol. When is the last time that really hurt a team? Bengals shut down Pryor with short PAC man, Jenkins shut down Dez, etc. football is football

which ever one can stop OBJ!!! instantly becomes my favorite....I think its Lewis
Lewis has the press ability, but Cheeto has the ability to make OBJ regret it. Not to say either doesn't have the ability to do both....I would just say their physical make-up inclines them towards certain strengths. In terms of attitude, they will probably end up being best friends.

Lewis

Give me the player with superior coverage ability and ball skills over the versatile player any day.

Lewis is the perfect kind of CB to guard these smaller, athletic WR's like Sterling Shepherd. If a team has an outside receiver that's around 6 foot, i'd have no problem putting Lewis on them. Really, you just don't want him up against the 6'2 ultra athletic guys, but he could probably do it with help over the top.

Awuzie is a perfect fit for this defense. He had 8 sacks and 4 FF over his last two seasons. Marinelli has always liked sending CB's on blitzes, and Awuzie might have been the best in the draft at it. Forcing fumbles shows how scrappy the dude is, and one thing that's preached the most in Rod's kind of DB's.
