This eliminates their hole at RT... Possibility of KC taking Decastro are significantly higher now

What I'm wondering is, if Decastro is not there for the talking, and lots of posters would rather go defense with the 14 pick, who would be the best pic for the defense?

Cox or Brockers

I'd draft Ingram or Cox at 14.

I'm curious what the staff thinks of Upshaw and Mercellus. They could be interesting possibilities with a small trade down to around 17 or 18.

I'd rather have Cox. He can play any position along the 3-4 defensive line really. He'd also be an interior 1 gap shooter in a nickel or 4-3 alignment which would be nice to have.

I think so, and I think he's faster twitch than Brockers as well. Just my opinion.

It also creates a very high probability they will take a defensive lineman (Nose, Pass rushing end) or linebacker to rush the passer. Herm Edwards and Peterson left Pioli about 8 or 10 really good young players including Brandon Carr and they have added a few more since (Eric Berry, Asomough, Houston) but they really need a quarterback and they would easily be the best team in the division. By that logic, if they like Tannehill they might trade in front of Miami to get him. I could see the Rams trading back with them if Blackmon is gone and the Rams target Floyd.

I agree, but only conditionally. Scott Pioli has already prioritized upgrading the Chiefs' offensive line, but they will be slightly reaching for David DeCastro if they stand pat at #11. I could see them trying to swap slots with the Chargers or us. I can see San Diego taking the bait if they felt Morris Claiborne would slip down somewhat. The prospect of moving up to get Melvin Ingram may be enticing enough for Dallas to make that switch as well.

That's way too personal :laugh2:

But seriously, I'm torn between the two. I think Brockers has more UPSIDE, but I think Cox would make more of an impact this year. He just made more plays in college and wasn't surrounded by as much talent as Brockers was. In three years, Brockers may be better, but right now, Cox would step in and provide more of a pass rush and tackles behind the LOS.

Brockers played the 3 tech in a 4-3, but he's the prototypical 5 tech in a 3-4 as well. He's pretty versatile, but so is Cox. They moved Cox around a lot. He played 3 tech in the base, and in the nickel and 3 man lines, he played at DE also. Cox definitely seems pretty versatile. Hence, I think Cox wil be the pick, IF DeCastro is off the board...

Brockers reminds me of Chris Canty a LOT actually.

Very interesting...

Definitely true, showed in games they played and in the draft. Brockers is just a big guy who will get bigger and potentially could play NT, whereas Cox won't be able to do that.

Whoever is available, if we are picking D first, between Poe, Cox, or Brockers should probably be the pick.....especially if we keep Spencer.

Still think they take Trent Richardson or Ryan Tannehill.

If either is available, I agree, I don't see them taking DeCastro at all.

Who are they? I'm slow!

Are they linebackers? LB's?

I would rather trade down then take Brockers or Poe. Drafttek has the consensus mock where Decastro, Coples, Kirkpatrick and Cox are all gone. It makes me sick to my stomach.
