Much like Sam Bradford the dude just keeps getting paid
he keeps getting paid because if you haven't noticed the NFL is starved for quarterbacks...

yet we wanna get rid of Prescott as fast as we can around here because somehow it affects our wallet and going to the playoffs 5 out of the last eight years not experiencing any losing seasons when Prescott's a quarterback,

maybe you don't get that team sign guys like him because there aren't even any really good quarterbacks past 16 , that means 16 teams are praying to find a great quarterback and then you have to really water down the backups... Look at how many backup quarterbacks played last year and significant snaps I bet it was one of the most in NFL history if somebody wanted to do the research...

ohh but around here also everybody thinks we should have a backup plan and it's easy just to put a guy on the roster as the heir apparent because Good to Great quarterbacks just grow on trees....

Newsflash they do not and maybe that's why Jerry just took a flyer on Trey Lance and everyone around here thinks it was a dumb idea, he's just looking down the road... You can pick up a journeyman anytime but trying to find a younger guy that could be at least the bridge future guy it's really tough in this league and yet the posts around here are so ridiculous about Prescott they're so in a hurry to move on from him and I get it the money he's demanding and everything but you gotta really look at the larger picture the big landscape this league is starved for quarterbacks that could even get close to Prescott's level...

And they continue to draft last I checked I posted before, the 95 quarterbacks have been drafted and only one of them has won a Super Bowls since 2016.... That's a crazy stat it really shows you just moving on from your top guy it's not easy...

Wentz making a career out of one year deals as a backup. That would be Dak's fate also, if it weren't for the Jones Boyz.

KC finally does something dumb !
He isnt worth vet minimum.
hate to see him get a easy ring.
He’s not chasing a ring. He already has one. No quarterback that thinks they can develop to a point they can be a starting quarterback in the NFL will sign with KC. They know they’ll never get on the field. Wentz knows that ship has sailed for him. He has experience with various teams learning different offenses and won’t whine about not playing. Few backup QBs in the league have a winning record as a starter with 47 wins. Plus, he accepts the minimum amount the NFLPA allows him to be paid and is willing to sign a one year deal. He’s now personally wealthy and is smart enough to move himself toward maximum pension benefits. Ninth year in the NFL. Not a great player, but a smart one.

So what happens if Mahomes goes down and Wentz leads them to a SB win?
Does that mean Mahomes was just surrounded by some great talent in the past?

If anyone can get him on track, it's Andy Reid. I don't know what the heck happened to Wentz. So bizarre.

Went over to 'Arrowhead Pride' - SBNation Chiefs fans website.
Approaching 100 comments; running about 3 to 1 in support of the signing.
Why not? Who wouldn't want a former 1st Rounder as a backup? We're doing it with our guy except we don't totally know what he's capable of yet.

I just perused what a portion of that fanbase thought of the pickup...didn't respond it was a good or bad.
If you've went over there to check it out - ALL of the KC fans in that forum thought Blake Bortles as the backup QB in 2023 was a severe dropoff from Chad Henne's five-year stint before him.
Despite his rocky road since his departure from the Eagles - Wentz is looked at as a an upgrade to be the Chiefs backup QB for 2024.

Philly moved on from him when they thought they had a better alternative. He goes 9-8 with the Colts in 2021, they move on from him, win 4 games in 2022, and fire their coach. Started six games with Washington in 2022, goes 2-4 in starts for an 8 win team. They dump him, and their other quarterback, win 4 games in 2023, and fire their head coach. If there is anything to this guy the Chiefs will make use of it working with their reserves and practice squad players. KC has the best QB1 in the NFL backed up by a QB with a winning record as a NFL starter with 47 wins as a starter. They’ve won the last two Super Bowls and are intent on winning the next one. More “all in” than most teams.
