I really enjoy hot food. I'm always on the lookout for tips on good products. Maybe some of you who like hot food can share?

I'm sitting here eating chips with Daves Gourmet Insanity salsa and i'm on my 4th glass of milk. Holy Lord this stuff is HOT!

Nice thread topic Big D. I love hot food and its crazy how much I like it. I just got back from the Take-n-Bake pizza shop and ordered a Cowboy pizza with a ton of jalapenos on it. I also had some "hot tots" at a restaurant that served habanero sauce with it yesterday. Ill go to a restaurant that has "hot food" and most of the time its a joke! The five alarm burger has salsa, jalapenos and spicy cheese and its really the equivalent of regular black pepper to me.

The only hot stuff I have found is the Homicide Wings at the local wings place and its really not a horrible hot either. Do you recommend a hot sauce that is really hot but has some decent flavor?

I am a Buffalo Wing nut!

Here is my recipe!

1 - Get good wings. I like both the uncooked frozen wings and not adverse to buying precooked frozen wings.

*Get a good deep fry and get heated in oil.

* For the sauce I use franks red hots, lots of cayenne pepper and seasonally will grind in Jalopeno's!

* Big Key here, melt whipped butter and pour into the sauce. There is no oven frying in any good wing recipe (dry). The whipped butter helps the sauce stick to wings.

* When wings deep fried and ready (5-8) minutes. Drop into shake container with the sauce. Shake sauce into wings and serve.

sweet

Here's a link to a good site.http://www.cosmicchile.com/site/search_engine.html?show_all=1&prod_group=Hot%20Sauces

The ones I've tried that i really like are ANY of the Melinda's sauces. Scorned woman is pretty good. Blairs original death sauce is good, but once you get into the after death and sudden death and Mega Death and New Jersey death those sauces are way too hot alone and are only good to me as additives. The Cheech Marin sauces are tasty for sure! I've tried the Iguana sauces and they are good as well. I bought a bottle of Da Bomb and it's like the Blairs, way way way to hot for tacos and anything else on it's own. If you buy those extreme sauces you can put a couple of drops into a hot sauce and make it extremely hot, so they are good for that. Lawyers breath is good. I tried Spontaneous Combustion and again, way to hot alone. Buy a bottle of Melindas, and a bottle of the really hot stuff and add a few drops to the Melindas and you'll have the perfect sauce for food.

Franks isn't nearly hot enough for me. I buy this one, add a couple drops of my extreme hot sauce and it becomes hot and tasty.http://www.cosmicchile.com/site/anchor-bar-suicidal.html

Why do you like the Melinda sauces? Is it the flavor? I saw the Blairs before but I dont want an additive. It does make sense though to use it for getting other sauces "up to speed".

I just really like Melinda's flavor. Great garlic taste and it does have a little kick on it's own. It's very close to the Cheech Marin garlic sauce. I tell you man, my all time favorite(i buy 3 at a time so i'm NEVER out) is not a sauce, but a dry sprinkle. It has all the good stuff, Red savina, cayenne, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, celery seed, rosemary and oregano. It really pack a huge punch. Sprinkle some on your burger before and after cooking. sprinkle on popcorn, pizza, steak, anything. Great heat, good flavor and doesn't over power the taste of the food like most vinegar based hot sauces can. I highly recommend Blair's Death Rain. http://www.cosmicchile.com/site/blair-s-death-rain.html

Another fantastic dry spice. Better overall flavor than Blair's Death Rain, but not as hot. http://tastethepain.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/product410.html

Alright, I'm going on a hot sauce run at the end of next week and stocking up on some of these. I love garlic. Have you ever started a collection where you just buy them and put them on shelves?

Unless its a steak or seafood or some other dishes like lasagna, everything just seems drab and boring. Its like I want jalapenos or habaneros or something on my food at all times. Thank God I have a strong stomach.:)

Oh BTW-when you put the "rain" on your burgers and such, do you just use a pinch?

I sprinkle several pinches. The best way is to just test it on something.

I don't collect hot sauces, i have too many other collecting interests and wouldn't have the room for sauces.

Speaking of collecting, you ever see these Blair's sauces?http://tastethepain.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/page13.html

Nice to meet a fellow Chili Head as I am the only one around where I work who takes great pleasure in making foods very warm to very hot. Why have a plain old burger when you can seriously jazz it up and make it "exciting".

Yes it's good to talk to others who enjoy hot food:)

I am going to buy at least one Blair's hot sauce, and maybe two. The crystal one you posted is tops on my list. I don't want to spend thousands on all the sauces he has, but i just have to have at least one or two and the crystal bottle is so cool, i might break down and spend the 6 bills. As i said, i'm a collector of many different items and i'd love to have that cool gold wax bottle in my collection.

But you said you don't collect 'em. You getting started as we speak?:D

You need to get one of Dave's Insanity Sauce that comes in one of those wooden coffins! Better yet,go get you a bottle of "Pure Cap",which is the concentrated pure Capsaicin oil. It comes in a glass bottle with an eye dropper....Very dangerous! On a side note,if you have problems with deer or other animals eating your favorite petunias or shrubs, put a few drops in one of those hand held sprayers, add a gallon or so of water, and spray your plants with it. They come once, then they go to your neighbors petunias!
