This one freakin' hurts. Out of the grunge bands, Soundgarden was always my favorite and I thought Cornell had some pipes on him.

52, he did some hard drugs and was a drinker for some time.

His voice was incredibly unique in the grunge scene.

Just an amazing vocalist. People like him don't come along often in the music industry - he had a voice in grunge that could have fit in the 70s and 80s era of music.

I read this here and didn't want to believe it. So I had to go check it out for myself... you know how rumors go. But this time it's real and this one hurts. Chris is my favorite singer from way back a long time, rest in peace Cornell.

Chris Cornell Found Dead After Show In Detroit

Rocker Chris Cornell, frontman for Soundgarden and Audioslave, died following a sold out show at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.

A police source talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 Thursday morning said the 52-year-old singer-songwriter was found in the bathroom of his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel, after apparently taking his own life.

An autopsy by the Wayne County Medical Examiner later determined Cornell committed suicide by hanging.

Those are the opening lines to the last song Chris Cornell ever sang on stage. It was a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."
Cornell and his band Soundgarden have covered the song before and they did it again to close out the show at Detroit's Fox Theater on Wednesday. Just hours later, Cornell was found dead. He was 52.

Sounds like he was planning this instead of it being a spur of the moment decision..

Reports are that he committed suicide after a performance last night. Sad that he thought that was the only way out. Really enjoyed his music with Soundgarden and Audioslave. RIP.
