BALTIMORE -- Orioles slugger Chris Davis has been suspended 25 games for using amphetamines, a punishment that will extend into the postseason.

Baltimore started play Friday leading the AL East by 10 games with 17 left in the regular season, so the team could be without the 2013 home run champion deep into the playoffs.

Should have been longer IMO. Wasn't his first but MLB does have a set penalty unlike the NFL where they pull random numbers out for violations.

If that were true then all these guys would get the suspended the same length of time. The suspension of ARod was different than the one for Ryan Braun and so on and so forth.

The word "doesn't" disappeared from my sentence....MLB doesn't have a set penalty etc etc for some reason. I threw out a confusing reply, sorry :)

It is supposed to be 10 games for 1st time, then 30, then 60 then a year suspension but that rarely happens it seems. But, suspensions are different for what they are busted for too, steroids are harsher.

Baseball has set penalties for analytical positives. Baseball doesn't have set penalties for people suspended under the best interest clause. ARod, Braun, and the other biogenesis people suspended last year were suspended under the best interest clause as they weren't, to my understanding, doing things that were being tested for when they were done and were suspended after the fact.
