they are two of the top free agent quarterbacks and relatively young and have a lot of upside. Simms is 26 and Schaub is 25.

If Romo struggles or if we are not sure about him do we go after these guys?
Or should we draft a QB like Stanton or Russell? Quinn will not be in our range unless we really tank and I don't kow about Brohm or Palmer.

I think the Buccaneers and Falcons respectively will have something to say about the aforementionned quarterbacks, too. You know with them still being on NFL rosters.

What has Schaud done to make you think he is better than Romo? Romo hasnt even started yet.

Yes, I wouldnt want either of them.

did I say Schaub was better? I qualified my question by saying if Romo struggles, do we take a look at these guys or draft a quarterback in the draft?

If Romo shows he's the future(and I think he could be), the question is moot. Until then, it's a valid question.

Reading comprehension. It's a good thing.

And they are both free agents after the season, which is when we could look at possibly acquiring either of them.

Once again, reading comprehension is a good thing.

I'd take Simms over Schaub any day...any day.

Simms has taken a team to the playoffs and has a connection to the area. Considering Gruden has such a man crush on Gradkowski, it's conceivable that Tampa lets him walk after the year.

Between these two, I like Schaub. Schaub will be a restricted FA I believe, meaning Falcons get choice to match.

Schaub is a restricted free agent. Probably costs at least a first to get him.

I'll pass on Simms.

I don't want to give a 1st and third round pick for Matt Shaub. Let someone else do it. Give Romo till the end of the year to realize his potential. If he doesn't have it than Dallas will be 4-12 and able to get a real quarterback. If Romo shows promise, the Cowboys can get the best tackle available.

I'd take Simms in a heartbeat. Flozell wouldn't be responsible for covering his blind-side. We could make a run at Eric Steinbach to play RT in free agency. He plays guard for Cincinnati but his natural position is tackle Just a thought. At least Simms took his team into the playoffs.

Actually, it would probably take a bit less than that... oh, the Falcons are almost certain to tender him at a first round compensation rate, perhaps even a first and a third...

At the same time, they have to know they have NO chance of re-signing him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent the following season (they're completely committed to Michael Vick, have built the team around him), so they'll almost certainly be willing to accept somewhat less than that in a trade...

You want a 290 pound tackle??

I don't... Steinbach would be a good fit with the Broncos, who rely heavily on small but quick linemen, but not so well with the Cowboys...

Personally I'd have to go for Schaub if we were going the FA route but I have a feeling he'll be in high demand and likely demand top dollar.

Schaub was a 3rd round draft pick. By the RFA rule, we would have to give up a 3rd if we signed him. The only way 1st round picks come into play is if Atlanta franchises him. At least that is my understanding of how Restricted Free Agency works
