Callous towards young developing qbs, that is. He got a lot out of Gannon, who had been around for years, but Gruden has never had the patience to develop a kid.

I mean, before Simms...name one.

Tuna said a few years back Gruden reminded him of himself at that age, (of course, he wasn't referencing looks)

My reaction was, "no, Bill that guy AIN'T you".

very tru with respect to the clarification and young qbs. i left that out. i definitely agree he lacks the patience to develop a young guy.

as far as tuna, maybe he thought gruden's competiveness or some of the abrasiveness reminded him of himself....maybe. but theres a big difference btw being able to yell and needle guys, and being able to turn that into production by your players. just look at tampa and i think, among other things, you can see gruden comes up waaaaaaaaay short in this area.

SIMMS HAD A RUPTURED SPLEEN

We've confirmed via a league source that Bucs quarterback Chris Simms is in stable condition following the removal of his spleen. Peter King of NBC reported the information moments ago on NBC, citing Simms' mothter as the source.

Simms will remain in the hospital, we hear, for two days or so. He is expected to miss two months.

as long as he is all well then it doesnt really matter the amount of time he misses. Who is the Bucs back up QB anyway???

This is going to hurt his pockets. I thought he might pull a nice contract after this season.

Which might be true.

But, at this point in his life. I bet he'd rather be healthy.

Gradkowski is their backup... this kid looks like the real deal to. Sims may not cack the starting lineup again if this guy can carry over his success from preseason.

Prayers go out to Chris and his family... glad it seems to be a stable situation.

Isn't that what happened to Bledsoe?

I know he didn't have his spleen removed, but I thought it was ruptured.

Bledsoe had a torn heart valve or something. An artery maybe? Don't remember.

Tough one for Simms -- really he is lucky he was at the stadium with emergency vehicles at the ready -- people die from that stuff.

that seems too serious considering that Drew was available to play 4 weeks later.

The time to heal doesn't indicate the severity of the injury.

Bledsoe almost died from his injury.

QB order in Tampa...
#2 Bruce Gradkowski
#3 Tim Rattay

So they should be going after a a QB. Listening to the halftime talk a few minutes ago it sounds like he is done for the season or maybe to return in December. Glad to hear he is recovering and should return to 100% next year.
