Don't think I've seen this guy talked about much, if at all, here. Looks to be a very good 3 tech fit for us available in the middle rounds. The obvious downfall on him is that he had to have surgery to repair a dislocated knee that cut his season 7 games short. All reports say that he looked good and explosive recently at his pro day. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ton-of-rice-boosts-his-draft-stock-at-pro-day

I've kind of been keeping my eye on him, but nobody seems to think as highly of him as I do, including sites like CBSSportsline, ESPN (kiper), etc. I've been wondering it there was something I'm missing with him. He has good measurables and is a really smart guy from what I can tell. IMO, he should be ranked higher but nobody seems to talk much about him.

He has been one of those late round guys that I hope Dallas manages to get. If my past luck holds with that though, he will probably be a top 15 pick by draft day.

Only limited playing time at a small(ish) school, played in Canada in HS, limited scheme fit, coming off knee surgery... I can definitely see why he's being projected as a mid/late round prospect, but I also see some serious tools with him and we happen to be the perfect scheme fit. I hope we take a shot on him in the 4th.

Yeah, in the later rounds, he would be worth taking a shot on. I'm glad I'm not the only one...

He has been one of my favorites in this draft too, I think of him as pretty much the same type as Michael Bennett of Ohio St. they are identical in explosion/athletic traits.

Gotta disagree with that assessment of him compared to Bennett(who I like in the second rd), I think something happened this year to drop Covington down, he was positioned late 3rd and then all of a sudden he fell into the sixth and seventh in feb.

He looks like he can play in the NFL.

The issue is that the Cowboys have a long list of developmental DTs with similar or better ability.

They will carry 4 or 5 DTs on the roster. They will likely carry about 3 veterans from the group of Crawford, Brent, T. McClain and Hayden. That leaves 1 or 2 spots for a young guy to make the team. I'm a big fan of Ken Bishop. Chris Whaley had better college game footage then many of the DTs in this draft. Coleman has some talent but apparently focus is his obstacle. Jack Crawford had a good game at DT and was much better there than at DE. Okoye is a wildcard and is still only 27.

Compare to a position like Safety where #3 is Jeff Heath and I don't even know how is #4.

I would be fine with Covington in the 5th or later.

Dislocated knee cap that requires surgery will usually do that...

Brent, McClain, Bishop, Crawford....those are the 4 I want on the team but I'm not sure there is a 5th I would want to see on the field next year. I see Whaley as still 1 more year to develop before he's ready for the NFL and I doubt we would have a problem stashing him on the practice squad. I would just like 1 more pass rusher at the spot behind Crawford. Hardison, Philon, Covington...those are the 3 I would want somewhere between the 3rd and 5th.

I think people were concerned about the injury, but that workout just calmed a lot of fears. He goes second day in my opinion.

I would rank them like you have, the kid from Arkansas, Philon is interesting, Hardison is my first choice and could make it to the third rd IMO with current data available.
