Can't abide by his last name. Sounds too cat hair ballish and we also don't need a QB with a name that could go well with Choker on this team.

Well...you asked. :p

What's not to like about him. He's accurate, when he has time to step into throws, and can make all the throws. He throws well on the run and has pocket presence. He has prototypical measurables and was running a pro style offense last year.

I think he has regressed in the early going since last year without Bill O'Brian. This year he's also playing without Allen Robinson. He tends to lock onto a first read (maybe a result of spotty line play) and needs the obvious help with his footwork but otherwise is quite advanced for a sophomore QB.

What I like: Nice arm, can make any throw. WHEN he transfers his weight properly he throws a really nice, accurate ball. Good mobility for a pocket passer. Calm in the pocket.

What I don't like: As you said chuch, he locks on to his first read and is late with a lot of throws if that first read isn't open. He needs to go through his progressions much faster; I question his understanding of the defenses/coverages he's facing. He is not afraid to make any throw into any coverage at any time, not a good trait. I would like to see more accuracy on his deep balls but this is a common issue for most college QB's.

Reminds me of: Nick Foles

He's had a good start to his college career but he needs some work.

He also seems careless with the football. He has made some throws that he can still get away with in college, but an average DB in the NFL would intercept with ease. A lot to like, but that really, really has stood out to me in the games I have watched.

Hackenberg makes the kind of mistakes I'd expect from a kid his age. I still think he's right on pace to be very good. Should be the top pick in 2016 and a day one starter. I would have preferred if he had more time under Bill O'Brien. Not a knock on James Franklin, I just like O'Brien's work with QB's.

This kid was a beast back in the Elite 11.

Has all the physical tools but has to learn to play the game.
He makes a lot of poor decisions and looks a lot like a young Troy Aikman.

You can see the ability but he is hardly consistent.
If they can put enough weapons around him he could dominate in a year or so.
But he is not a Heisman candidate at this point and won't be without better offensive teammates.

It's tough to say because he doesn't really have any weapons around him, but I do like him. He'd be a good fit on a team where there is a solid Oline, running game, and WRs already in place *cough* dallas *cough cough*
