Christine is a good friend of mine who used to help me with photography back when I was doing music performance photography. She helped me with the lighting when I did shoots for local musical artists. But, more important than that, she's a dear friend. Now she has cervical cancer. On the positive side, she says her doctor said it has a high survival rate. I hope that's the truth and not a sugar-coating of the truth. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm supporting her in any way I can. I'm baking some bread for her and cooking for her today. She also has a big family supporting her through this. We all want Christine, or "Steeny" as I call her, to beat this thing. If you knew Steeny, you would like her.

Any prayers you wish to say for her are welcome. Thank you.

Best wishes to your friend.
I imagine it would be hard to find one person who has not had a family member die of cancer. Just hope that one day they can finally find a cure for all forms without having to go through Chemo.

Many thanks to everyone for your compassion and prayers. I saw Christine, and she seems to be in good spirits. Her doctors are hopeful they can fight this into remission. I've been cooking meals for her. I'll do whatever I can for her. She's been a good friend for years.

I found out one more thing. One of my favorite science videographers, Hannah Fry, had that same cervical cancer and she survived. Cool. Hopefully, Christine can too.

Here's an update. Christine has been responding well to her cancer treatment. Her doctors say her chances for survival are very good. She relayed a touching story. People, including myself, have been helping her with funding. A friend of hers wrote up a flyer about that topic and kept it in the bar that she runs. The one day and elderly gent came in and gave her a big Crown Royal bag to give to her. Christine doesn't drink, and so CR booze would have been one of those "it's the thought that counts" gifts. However, there was no liquor in the bag. Instead, there were a bunch of rolled-up bundles of cash. His late wife had for decades put extra cash into that bag, sometimes just a 1; other times a 50 or a 100. He decided to give the whole bag to Christine as a gift from his late wife to her. It was worth more than $1400 and really helped her a lot. Her friend said that when she asked him his name, he simply said, "Bill," but that he wanted to remain anonymous. Christine's voice trembled with emotion when she told me about it.

So far Christine, or "Steeny" as I call her, is doing pretty good considering the situation. She's got the support of a really good family and friends, and now even strangers. I'm hopeful that she'll beat this thing. I would also like to thank everyone here for listening and for your prayers. When I found out Steeny was sick, it felt like a sucker punch to the gut. Your kind words and prayers have really helped a lot. Thank you so much.

People can still surprise me. That's a wonderful thing "Bill" did, as well as everyone else.
