Observations after five practices in training camp

<snip>

Memo to 5 Rings and Curtis on your bet for the Sunshine Kids: I want checks to deposit in the bank to hold for both of you.

5 Rings said the Texans won't win more than three games. 5 Rings will donate $10,000 to the Sunshine Kids when the Texans win their fourth game.

Curtis and 5 Rings will put up $10,000 each on the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl. If they win, Curtis donates his share to a charity of 5 Rings' choice. If they don't win the Super Bowl, 5 Rings will donate 10 grand to the Sunshine Kids. We'll shoot a video of the loser making his donation.

So, 5 Rings and Curtis, are we clear on your wager for charity?

John,
When a Cowboy fan says the Texans won't make the play-offs, they're moronic idiots who don't know anything. It's nice to see you saying what I've been saying for 6 months. So, to all the hapless Houston fans,,,is John a Moron? Is he an idiot? I mean, he's saying what I've said from day 1. Except I like to split hairs even more, and say they win only 3 games this year. This isn't my disdain for the Texans for saying this. I look at the schedule, and I see 3 wins tops. The Texans will lose to the Colts and Jags twice. They'll lose to the Titans at least once. They'll lose to the vikes. They'll lose to Greenbay. That's 6 losses right there. It is what it is. Calling America's team "cowboys" over and over won't change that. (My God that gets old. Be more original then "cowboys")

Texfan, sure I'll put money on my predictions. Problem is, I've never met a Texan fan that I could trust. Unless John's willing to hold the green, forget it. Otherwise, Absolutely.

{5 Rings, I make predictions based on what I think. You make them because you want to get a rise out of Texans fans. I think the Texans are going to finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs. When I look at the AFC and see how strong I think so many teams will be, there's no way I can pick the Texans to make the playoffs if I'm thinking with my brain and not my heart. -- JOHN}

OK 5 Rings you own. I will put up $10,000 dollars

in a cashier check or cash. I'll bet you that the Texans win more than 3 games. John knows me and can verify my financial worthiness. After the Texans win 3 games I'll donate your $10,000 and my $10,000 to the Sunshine Kids. Put up or shut up.

First of all, Curtis, you are beneath me. I've never heard of you, so quit trying to impress me with your fake 10,000.00 bet. I've got 10,000 dollars under the car seat of my Porche.

However, since I'm dealing with multiple people that I don't know, I'm not willing to risk them skipping out when they lose. Why not make it a million dollar bet with that logic?

I will however bet anyone 100.00 that the Texans only win 3 games, IF you also bet me 100.00 that they don't or do make the play-offs. Of course, I say they don't. These are the 2 things I've been saying, so it's only fair to bet on both of these. I will tell you right now, When I win, I am choosing the Cancer research at M.D. Anderson for my winning contribution. Plus, I will only bet those who have the John McCain seal of approval. Otherwise, as much as you guys hate me (I'm good with that), I won't do it.

{5 Rings, I know Curtis very well. His money is good. He'll give me a check -- or cash -- to hold. Will you do that? -- JOHN}

That genius 'Kubes" is probably regretting passing up Mendenhall right about now.

Where's Curtis? He make's a 10000.oo offer, and then disappears? I have talked to Dale Hanson from WFAA and 103.3 the Ticket in Dallas, and told him about the offer. He said if Curtis doesn't back out, he'd like to give some publicity to this charity cause. Since this is turning into the real deal, I want to up the bet to 50,000.00 per bet. ( 50 k for winning only 3 games, and 50k for not making the play-offs). Come on Curtis. 100,000.00! I've got it, do you? Besides, I need the write offs.

John, I am curious over something. As long as I've been blogging here, I've never seen a Curtis post before, and all the sudden, here he comes wanting to bet me a measley 10k, and not only that, he has your endorsement on the credibility issue. Somethings a little fishy with that. However, I am saying it now. 50,000.00 for each bet. If the bets push, I'll still give 50,000.00 to the MD Anderson Cancer research. Will Curtis? Great publicity for a great cause if Curtis isn't a one trick pony. (Something is fishy in Denmark with the sudden arrival of Curtis). Who cares. Lets do this!

{5 Rings, Curtis posts all the time, usually late at night. I wouldn't get into a betting war with him. Trust me on this. -- JOHN}

5 Rings No Footballs and a Big Mouth

I see that you want to raise the bet to $50,000. I can't afford that I don't have your kind of money Ha Ha. I'm a poor old working boy from Houston Texas. I was born in the Heights Hospital many years ago. I am good for the $10,000 bet are you? Remember chicken ain't nothing but a bird.

Curtis

PS I have posted on this blog many times before. I'm not John I'm better looking.

Curtis, No football team and a Bigger Mouth

Yes, I want to bet 50,000.00. I didn't have this food business handed to me, so I too am only a hard working man. John said I shouldn't get in a betting war with you, so I'm not. But if you're confident enough to disagree with my 2 predictions, and present me with a betting offer, I have every right to "raise" your betting offer. It's 50k, or it's nothing. I'm going to donate it anyway, (you'll hear about it) so put your money where your pie-hole is. I am.

P.S. I have also posted on here many times, and John IS better looking then me.

The Texans will win more than twice that many games. Maybe he is just a charitable man.

unfortunately for Houston they play in arguably the toughest division in the NFL.. but the texans have significantly improved the last couple of years ( who knew Mario would turn out to be the better pick)

wouldn't surprise me if they went 8-8 or 7-9

Don't be fooled by Mario Williams' sack total last year. Living in Houston, I saw many of their games or the replays on local TV. I bet at least a third of them were simply him putting his hands on the QB as he was already going down. Another portion were the kind when the QB takes off, and he's "sacked" by simply being near a D lineman.

There's a reason why he wasn't voted into the Pro Bowl by his peers. He gets single blocks by TE's most of the time and is a non-factor.

As far as Houston's prospects, they have 2 HUGE weaknesses: The secondary and O-Line are horrid -- simply terrible. Shaub is injury-prone and really not all that.

I know that Cowboys fans outside of Houston don't get it, but I hate this team mainly because of "Texan Fan" who hates the Cowboys more than he loves his own damn team. Ask any H-Towner here, they'll tell you the same thing. ;) :starspin

I feel your pain man. Houston fans dont get that outside Houston that Dallas fans could give 2 poops about them.

I agree with the Mario thing too. The was actually talking about him being the best DE in the game on 97.5 the ticket a couple of days ago.

What an idiotic trade.
The Texans can easily beat Baltimore, Miami, Detroit, Cincinnati, Oakland, & Chicago.
And teams always win a game during the year they arent supposed to but they also lose some they arent supposed to.
3 wins though!? Easily done.

I agree. Sometimes Texans fans hate can drive you to do crazy things. I dont know about $10000 crazy though. I won a $100 off one last year becasue how the Cowboys looked after the preseason game with them he betted me they wouldnt win 8 games. He was sold on that game because it was the 3rd preseason game and it was starters vs starters for 2 1/4 qts. They're on some good ones down here but for the most part they're morons who have some much hate it blinds them.

Its so true about the Texans fans. I moved here about 3 years ago and still cant get over the staggering amount of hate from fans and media alike. I find it amusing that all of the small towns around Houston have retained their Cowboys fans. Go into any WalMart or mall and you will see just as much or more Cowboys merchandise. Its funny how every time I see another cowboys fan here we stop and shake hands and talk football, Like a huge family..The Texans dont and never will have that. I tell my Texan fan associates and family members that they are like the Jan Bradys of Texas football. Jealous of their prettier and more successful sister up north..Dallas Dallas Dallas( said in sniviling little sister voice)

It was worse when the Oilers were here in Houston. No doubt Houston fans hate Dallas and it actually goes beyond football. I have been in Houston since the late 60's and went through the Luv U Blue in the 70's and there was a lot more heated conversation with the Houston fans vs Cowboy fans that what we see today.

On Houston Radio a few weeks ago a "guru" was asked who he would rather start a team with - Romo or Matt Schaub. The announcers, every fan who called in, and the guru said Matt Schaub!

I wanted to call in and comment but they are so stupid in this town it would have been in vain.:starspin

Outside of the Houston area, this is a Cowboys state. I grew up in the Golden Triangle just 90 mi east of Houston and it was and still is Cowboys. Hell, I'm willing to bet that there as many fans of the Cowboys here as there are Texans "fans." Not a day goes by that I don't see many Cowboys stars, LP's, logos, etc. on cars or people sporting Cowboys gear here in Houston. :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Sounds like 5 rings is load of crap. Make a bet for $10,000 and when somebody legitimately takes them up on it, raise the bet to $50,000 to "out-price" him out of the bet. My guess is that 5 rings doesn't have the $10K. It's also hard to only win 3 games. As bad as the teams were under the Campo era, they still won 5 games each year.

If I had $10,000 to throw away I wouldn't waste it on a bet with a Texans...or any other fan for that matter.

Yep. I listen to 610 quite a bit. I know a lot of it is just razzing cowboy fans, but still. But yeah, they root against the cowboys more than they root FOR there own team.
