If you read it, it mentions on Clowney; not this week. He's just doing different scenarios until his final mock.

I would prefer the run on QB's to happen early, as it well push down more players to us.

There are billboards all over here in Houston saying to keep Manziel in Texas. It is a real possibility that they take him but it wont be with the 1st pick. They either take Clowney or trade down and grab Manziel, although I don't see him lasting past 3,4 or 5.

as an NFL fan, I would be excited to see what he would bring to the Texans

(translated: I don't want to see him in Dallas)

exactly the type of QB Bill O'Brian does not want. He wants a pocket guy; and considering his mentality I do not see Obrian liking Manziel's brash and in your face personal style.

If they take Manziel they are in the playoffs next year.

If they take Clowney not so much.

I agree. O'Brien prefers the traditional pocket passer type, for example, his prize recruit, Christian Hackenberg, a 6-4, 212 traditional pocket passing QB.

I could see him targeting a Zach Mettenberger or an A.J. McCarron type in the Fourth Round to groom and rolling with Fitzpatrick this season. The man turned Matt McGloin into an NFL QB. I think he believes he can do the same with one of three mentioned above. Stated differently, with O'Brien's abilities as a QB guru, Houston doesn't need one of the top guys.

Agreed. and, since they draft so early in the 2nd, there will be plenty of good QB's there, assuming that they take Clowney @ #1, or do a mild trade-down and grab an OT, WR, or Mack and still get the value from the trade

If he likes Blake the best I believe he takes him. No doubt he is trusted to groom a young QB right... however taking the best... and the guy who fits his style, will give him a chance to develop him into a great QB. That is Important and if he feels it with Bortles I think you spend this years number 1 selection on the man. Many other years to get the other players.

Unpopular opinion but I think zero QBs go in top 15... Maybe one Vikings are the wildcard...

Thought we had a mock draft thread, so every mock wouldn't create a new thread daily.
Lots of Manziel love though by some around here. Otherwise, why a thread just because he made top overall pick in on out of the 1250 mocks out there.

Sorry for the mini rant..just curious.

didn't he recruit the #1 rated pocket passer to Penn State last year? No way O'Brian wants Manziel.

Because it's the hometown newspaper, presumably a guy with sources, on the topic of the No. 1 overall pick. It would be like Gosselin if the Cowboys had the No. 1.

Yeah, I get it.
If we're not lumping mocks into one thread, that's fine. There had been some mention of wanting to do that to keep in from getting out of control.
No worries. It'll be a fun draft.

Bill O'Brien seems like the kind of guy who's going to take a QB in the 3rd or 4th and throw off the whole draft.

So are you saying that you think Manziel would come in and be the day one starter in Houston?
