BOGART, Ga. -- He may not be running over, through and around defenses and sporting a red and black jersey with the number 27 on it, but Nick Chubb is still Nick Chubb. If you don't believe it, just watch him go out into public.

The sophomore tailback saw his season end on October 10 when he severely hyper extended his left leg, tearing multiple ligaments and requiring surgery, but that hasn't hampered his celebrity status in the Athens area. Chubb's high school team, Cedartown traveled to Oconee County Friday night where Chubb was constantly saying yes to photo and autograph requests.

Right now he's sporting a pair of crutches and a bulky knee brace, but that'll change soon.

"I get to put some weight on it in about three weeks, but I'm doing really good. Everything is going great..." Chubb said. "Not being able to walk is the worst part I'm just ready to get up and start moving around.".

Chubb has already started rehabilitation and is working out "twice a day" for the time being. Teammates who have been through major injuries, ones like Keith Marshall, have reached out -- offering encouragement and support.

But the star tailback isn't getting the proverbial cart ahead of the horse when it comes to his rehabilitation. He isn't sure exactly how long it will last or what it would take to get ahead of schedule. It's all about the present.

"It's just week by week," he said. "Not worried about anything else right now. Just taking it slow."

When he says he isn't worried about anything else. He seems to mean it. That means not worrying about whether or not he'll be able to put on the uniform for the Georgia Bulldogs next season.
