Howley - 180 games played. Klecko - 155 games played. Riley - 207 games played.
Howley - 7x Pro Bowler, 5 of those First team All Pro. Klecko - 4x Pro Bowler, 2 of those First Team all Pro. Riley - 1x Pro Bowl, only First Team All Pro
Howley - SB MVP Klecko and Riley - none

Klecko has more sacks than either Howley or Riley, but he was a lineman, many more opportunities for sacks. Riley has more interceptions, but he was a cornerback, much more opportunities for interceptions. Howley was an all around player, Klecko and Riley were in a more narrow area of the game.

Based on Pro Bowls alone, Howley is no. 1. Add in the good quantity of sacks and interceptions, he should be a lock. But he was a Cowboy, we'll see how it comes out....
If either of those guys get in ahead of Howley, it’s total BS. I watched Howley. I watched Klecko. It’s no contest.

I guess there are still idiots around here that think its no coincidence that so many Cowboy players who should be in the HOF either spent years before they did (Bob Hayes) or like Howley are still waiting.

And Howley played when being in the Pro Bowl REALLY meant something

Of the first twenty Super Bowls, only 4 MVPs are currently not in the HoF, and two of them are Dallas Cowboys.

Howley and Martin.

Jake Scott & Jim Plunkett are the other two.

This is just like how for a few decades the only two players from the All-Decade team of the 1970s not in the HoF were both Cowboys.

This no oversight. Certain SF sportswriters can try and deny, but there is a pattern of behavior here. That Star sticker is most certainly held against you in a lot of cases.

So what’s the current list of 70s-80s Cowboys over due?

Cliff Harris finally got in 2020, Drew Pearson in 2021.

Chuck Howley, Harvey Martin are over due. Who else from that era is missing?

John Niland and Cornell Green at least belong in the Ring of Honor, and an argument can be made for putting them in the Hall

I think Too Tall (Ed) Jones should be in the discussion, but I'm not interested in the NFL Hall/Canton's reasons for ignoring him. an Absolute stud in the NFL and was a great, one of a kind player.

Biggest thing keeping some of the Cowboys out are the two losses to the Squeelers. When it comes to say, linebackers, since the Squeelers beat the Cowboys twice, guys like Lambert got in first.

Like the team winning the game has anything to do with Cowboys player's deserving to be in the HOF or not....

Yes, this resume should have put him in long ago. Also, he is one of only eight defensive players to win MVP in a Super Bowl. For the record, three other Cowboy defenders have been Super Bowl MVP: Harvey Martin and Randy White shared the award in SB XII, and Larry Brown in SB XXX.
