For us older Cowboys fans, this is a big one. REALLY big. So overlooked for so long. Howley was a great player for the Cowboys are deserved this long long before now. I was totally shocked when they called his name last night. All I could think of is FINALLY! I'm so happy for him. He is where he belonged all along.

I was aware that he is the only player to win Super Bowl MVP from the losing team. Unfortunately I never got to see him play as my Cowboy fandom began around 1979-1980. Randy White was the 54 I grew up admiring. I also didn't realize he was such a great athlete outside of football. His HOF berth is well deserved and far too long in the making.

Great post bdc,we grew up in the greatest era,to actually witness this live is a blessing..I feel terrible for the younger fans of the team, especially those born in the last 30 yrs.

Way before my time so i never got to see Howley play ... but glad he is in there ....

maybe Woody and Walls will eventually be so as well. .. i'm just not hearing Harvey Martin to HOF vibes at all...

Question of the Day: Will Tony Romo or Zeke Elliott have a shot at the HOF ?

This is awesome! Here is one for all the new members

What I learned from this video:
  1. Roger Staubach is still Captain America and team leader of the Dallas Cowboys.
  2. Chuck Howley should have been in the Hall of Fame 40 years ago.
  3. D Ware is as special as being no.1 in the great 2005 draft and the HOF means so much to him.
  4. Walter Jones is a big, and huge human being. He engulfed Joe Thomas.
  5. Jimmy Johnson deserved the Hall of Fame, Jerry Jones was given the HOF, and Jimmy would have won more Super Bowls than Belichick with Zach Thomas, and Jason Taylor as Dallas Cowboys.
  6. HBCU football players still dominate the HOF and FAMU has Ken Riley, and Cowboy great Bob Hayes in the HOF
  7. "Air" Don Coryell gave the Cowboys 2 Super Bowl OCs in Norv Turner and Ernie Zampese. His influence continued with Scott Linehan, Jason Garrett, and Kellen Moore (but those maybe considered negatives).
  8. Alliquippa, PA must have water that makes HOF football players Ty Law, Darrell Revis, Cowboys Mike Ditka, and the great Tony Dorsett.
  9. Tony Dungy basically had a Hall of Fame defense in Tampa in Sapp, Brooks, Barber, and Lynch all in the HOF. That defense is never mentioned with the 87 Bears, 70's Steelers, or 2000 Ravens. But neither are Cowboys Doomsday Defenses I, II, and III.
That Tampa team went to one Super Bowl and all those players got in before Chuck Howley who by himself went to 2 Super Bowls, 6 Pro Bowls and was a Super Bowl MVP. He had to wait 50 years. This proves bias against Cowboy with the NFL HOF. Harvey Martin, Ed Jones, John Wooten, Cornell Green, Darren Woodson, John Niland, Nate Newton, Erik Williams, Jason Witten, and Everson Walls all should be in the Hall of Fame.

wow that video is so great to see. I remember Chuck. As someone who began watching in 1971 I kind of remember Lee Roy Jordan being as good or a bit better but I missed most of Howleys career. There are so many great players from the 60s and 70s
