The Cowboys can't hide it from anybody, its no secret how the Cowboys intend to proceed. They will run.

Thats fine with the Cowboys, they never intended the fool then, they simply intend to run over them.

The Cowbiys will continue to run and dare defenses to stop them. The defenses will compensate by puting 8 in the box, leaving 3 DB's to guard the backfield. They may even try to sneak the other safety in, mostly because nothing else is working.

Thats when Dak strikes. Dak will throw an average of 25 passes a.game. You can also expect him to run. However, when he throws, it will be down the field. This will help to open the running game even further.

The Cowboys will to do everything they can to shield their rookie from low percentage circumstances. If they are constantly lining up to 2nd and.5, 3rd and2, it will mean they are succeeding.

Dak will be a.rookie for about half a season. By the the time November rolls around opponent defenses will make a grave error if they underestimate him. He does not lack skill. Nor does he lack the ability to uderstand the pro game. He does not lack confidence, desire, or heart. He does not lack the temperment or the poise. He is simply inexperienced. He will learn quickly.

The defense is still improving but serious running game buys them time to het personnel back. It also keeps them fresher.

The Dallas Cowboys are going to send the NFL 45 years back in time, a time when the runningback controlled the pace of a.game.

It was 47 years ago that the Dallas Cowboys started a rookie quarterback and rookie RB on opening day.

The quarterback threw for a TD and ran for a TD. He averaged almost 15 yards per attempt that day.

The runningback had a good game, as well as his vetetan teammate. Together they ran 37 times

The Cowboys won that day and went on to a 11-2-1 record.

This was 1969. The RB ended up being rhe offensive rookie of the year, Calvin Hill.

The QB ended up in the Hall of Fame, Roger Staubach.

Two years later, 1971, these two players would lead the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl championship.

Today, right now, the NFL is not prepared for a physical running attack as the primary weapon of an offense. It will be years before they can counter it.

As far as I'm concerned, circumstances are always perfect for that.

I think they were planning to do this even with Romo healthy. Zeke, Morris, McFadden and they still take a RB in the 6th. This combined with their investment in the OLine (3 first rounders, 1 first round equivalent and a staring caliber player as a backup). They also love big WRs and really have them focus on becoming good blockers. It appears that they will keep a FB even if he plays less than a dozen snaps on offense. Also, they might keep 4 TEs just because the 4th guy is a good blocker.

Meanwhile, they didn't do much in terms of bringing in WRs. Just some UDFAs and practice squad types.

Roger Staubach, Calvin Hill (Tom Landry).

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott (Jason .500)

Just saying.

That team also had the seeds of Doomsday and had the 6th ranked defense in the league. Nobody is going to confuse this defense with that one.

Dak faces the same hurdles Tony has over the years.

He has to maintain TOP while scoring points. Maybe the future looks better with Jaylon Smith and some good drafts but Dak could be Roger and Zeke could be Calvin Hill but it won't matter that much.

Make no mistake, we're still running uphill until the defense comes around.

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott (Jason .500)

Just saying.

Calvin Hill a Yale graduate completely off everyone's radar, Ivy League schools didnt even have spring practice.

Roger Staubach, 6 years removed from playing organized sports, was.serving.in the Navy aboard a shop, off Viet Nam.

Thats how it always starts. They dint become legendary until they get the opportunity to do legendary things.

In the future, folks might say a.great quarterback should have Zak-like qualities.

They may day a new RB is.so good that he has the potential to be the next Zeke Elliot.

Jason Garrett may go down in history as a great innovator, second only to Tom Landry.

They are part of a Cowboy history yet to be written. I would not dismiss them based on zero proof that they cant. They can.

When Dak throws four interceptions, the mood around here will be very different.

Geez.
Hall of Famers who threw 4 INT's in a game in their rookie year:

John Elway
Terry Bradshaw (twice)
Troy Aikman
Bob Griese
Dan Fouts

Three were drafted #1 overall, another was drafted #4 overall.

I count 11 total Super Bowl championships, Fouts the only one not winning multiple championships.

If Dak throws 4 iNT's in a single game then the coaches and his teammates let him down.

Awesome post. I'm not sure I believe in fate, but the way Prescott has played this summer has me thinking this Romo injury will give us the perfect chance to see if he can be our QB of the future. Almost as if this was meant to be.

And the best part of all this is Romo's not out for the whole season.

His writing style is the same.

I do however agree in general with the OP.

But this sort of posting style is such a headshaker.

You don't have to hit the enter key so much.

Thank You.

The defense is the unknown in this equation.

They can run it as much and as well as they want. If the defense can't get to the QB and/or create turnovers, it's not going to matter.

SEA has this formula maybe with less deep shots because they don't have a Dez. But they also have the defense/coaching to pair this philosophy with. Hope Dak is for real because then we won't have to grab one in the 1st next year. Gotta admire the optimism though and we do play in a weak division; may only take 9 wins w/Eli being so erratic and I'm not believing Cousins is at that next "Romo" type of level to get the Skins over the hump though they look good on paper.

As usual the depressed chime in with depressive rhetoric.

You have to expect some rough spots, but I also believe were going to see some amazing Dak highlights too. I am very anxious to see how he performs on the field and hope he is the answer. If he plays well the team is going to have to make a tough decision when Romo comes back. Im guessing if the team is around 500 or plus/minus a game or two Romo is probably being plugged back in even if Dak is playing well. If they start 5 and 2 or better that will make it tough.

Dak has not shown the ability to consistently read defenses where the DC is calling different coverages and disguises down after down for 30 times a game. I like him but there are a lot of unreasonable expectations being thrown around. I would love to see greatness but the horse goes before the cart.

Many posters wont read a paragraph with more than two sentences. I just try to space ir out to make it appear less tedious.

Although, sometimes I do it for dramatic effect.

In a world, where paragraphs rule our lives, one man refused to bend.

Now, he must fight a battle against those he is trying to enlighten.
