Looks like it.

LSU football: Offensive lineman Ciron Black still unsigned

LSU offensive tackle Ciron Black has not signed a free agent contract with any NFL team, his agent Jimmy Sexton said Monday.

Internet reports, including one on Nola.com, had Black as one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' free agent signings but his name was not on the list the Steelers released on Monday.

Black, who started four years and a school record 53 games for the Tigers, was expected to be one of several LSU players drafted but his name was not called during the three-day draft.

"He has not," Sexton said when reached by phone Monday. Sexton declined to give further information.

Eight other undrafted LSU players were signed to free agent deals, including Harry Coleman who went to the Saints.

There's either a major issue with him we don't know about or there a biding their time looking for the absolute best situation and deal.

There could be a number of things.

When you see a player who was regarded highly at one point fall completely out of the draft, several ideas come to mind. He could have a failed drug test and knowledge of that turned the Steelers off, who knows.

Or it could be benign like you say, where a savvy agent like Sexton lets the initial flood of UDFAs settle and then steers his client for the best situation. The fact he is represented by Sexton tells me it is probably the latter.

Or it could be injury related:

The NFL draft starts today and there is a good chance that Ciron Black, once considered a first round pick, might not be drafted in the early rounds. This is because of a liability issue caused by a knee injury that some believe will require knee replacement surgery, a problem that might should have been taken care of at LSU. According to what I have been told, Black has performed very poorly in every physical combine he has participated in. I am pulling for Black to be drafted much higher than some NFL scouts are now projecting.

I'd love him as a guard, I hadn't seen anything about his knee or any other injury but it's gotta be something so that sounds likely.

But I mean Knee REPLACEMENT surgery? If he has to get his entire knee replaced, his career is over. There's no "taking care of that" at LSU.

In terms of taking care of it, he may have had the injury for years, and LSU did not see fit to correct it. By waiting, the only fix may be knee replacement.

Certainly a possibility. I hope he enjoyed his college career if that's the case cause he sacrificed his future for it.

Sounds like someone blew the call big time. No way that anyone will take any kind of a real chance on him now. As much as he has been poked and prodded by numerous doctors by now with all the teams that were looking at him, the consensus must be that he is done.

Once upon a time, Columbo was considered done. We took a chance on him and he's become a player for us. You never know.......

Did he have his knee replaced?? :laugh2:

KNEE REPLACEMENT?!? I didn't even know you could replace a knee on a regular person much less an athlete.

It doesn't say that he needs knee replacement. It says that some believe he may need it. I mean, he may well need it but sometimes things can work out. Colombo was the 26th pick by the Bears and they released him because of his knee injury. It took 3 years to recover but he managed to do it. Maybe there is hope for Black?

He deserves a shot at least... He's a player.

I watched him when he was starting at LT in high school, he helped lead his team to the state championship in 2004.

Very consistent player at LSU too... he's a die hard Cowboys fan from what I hear too...

He deserves a shot, especially given our old age and lack of depth on the offensive line.

Additionally... people always say players should stay their senior year and finish what they started.

Had Black skipped his senior year and entered the draft last year, he would have been a 1st round, early 2nd round pick.

I can't imagine his frustration right now.

Updating a previous item, LSU OT Ciron Black has not signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Steelers.

The Tigers' four-year starting left tackle remains available to the highest bidder. Though he's not the greatest athlete, Black's fall out of the draft was very surprising. No player in LSU history has started more games.

From a very reliable inside source that i have, ciron black hasnt signed with anyone yet, does have somewhat of a issue with a knee, but several teams are trying to sign him. My friend says he will probably sign within the week. So, giving the ones that wanted ciron black heads up, he has not signed with anyone yet.

The Cowboys have no interest in him.

Too slow footed and his weight are turnoffs.
