Clowney is an example of the risk. Khalil Mack went #4 in 2014 he's had 14 sacks this season including 5 last week. There was a debate and some thought he was better than Clowney he's certainly looked better so far. Having a top 10 pick puts you at risk to end up with a huge bust that can really set your franchise back. I wouldn't be opposed to trading out of the top 10 and picking up an extra #2. Checkout the drafts over the years you'll be amazed how many top 10 picks went bust or become just average players. As you look through those drafts you'll see some players who become great players who were taken later in the first round into the second round.

I would not be opposed to a trade down, if used correctly.
If we can get an extra 2nd. And 3rd or 4th, I am all for it.
As long as we come come out of it with one of the top 5 QBs, as well as a RB. In the first 2 rounds. My preference for now. Who knows, by draft day, I may think differently.
But if we have a solid draft from it, I won't sit here and whine we didn't get a QB, depending on who we selected, if they can make an Impact right away.
If not, then might as well, taken the QB, if a player is to sit and learn.

And in the later rounds....no injured prospects....lol....

That's all well and good, but almost everyone says, just draft a guy in the 4th round and we.ll be fine, and it's very rarely the case for a rookie to come in and contribute from that deep in the draft.
Going thru last years draft thru the first four rounds, the numbers are pretty bad, if not pathetic.

MJones, Langford, BAllen, KWilliams, Ajayi, DCobb and TRawls all look like keepers

And Gurley, DJohnson, Duke Johnson, Yeldon, Abdullah and Coleman and even Gordon would have a leading role on this team.

If we can snag an extra #2 which is very possible trading out of the top 10 one of those #2's can be used on a QB. It's unlikely the Cowboys are going to find a solid backup QB in free agency they'll likely end up with another Weeden or Cassel if they go that route. Teams don't let go of good backup QB's they're valuable so the Cowboys are probably going to have to take a QB fairly high in the draft to have a chance at acquiring a solid backup. Drafting a solid QB prospect might not only gain them a good backup but a future starter down the road which they may need in another 2-3 years.

I do. Stop the bleeding. Rip off the band aid. I don't care about the "warm fuzzy feelies" fans and players get from winning. It's the players and coaches fault that they're in this position anyway. No need to give anymore false hope.

When I saw SEVERAL TIMES 10 yard routes being ran 1 yard short of the stick and the fact that we're abysmal at picking up 3rd and 1's it let me know exactly what this team is this year. Better luck next year.

I won't argue with you there. I probably won't watch the game because I can't help rooting for the Cowboys. But, I know they are probably better off losing in the long run.

Five of the top 10 players in the 2012 draft have gone bust including Claiborne. All five came in the first seven picks.

Sadly I think were going to get slammed tomorrow night, cant see us scoring more than 10-14 points on them and we don't have anyone who can cover the man Terrance Newman still has nightmares about.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm not rooting against. I'm just not mad at losses anymore this season. Would love to get a high draft pick and trade it down for someone who's desparate

I will be shocked if Garrett's offense can get 2 field goals

You dislike me that much that you hate to agree with me? lol Seeing that you're responding to me I'll take the time to respond to a slam you made the other day. I responded to someones post in which they stated something very clearly so I had no idea their comment was a form of sarcasm in response to a lengthy post by someone else. Not one person would have known that unless they read the lengthy post he was responding to. The comment he made about losing Callahan is the exact comment that's been repeated by many on this board. He's the one who went overboard submitting lengthy posts as a form of damage control acting like I should have been able to read his mind. Below is his entire post and my response to it.

As for the Cutler debate you claimed was ridiculous I responded to a comment that the Bears should bench him. My response was who do the Bears have at QB that would give them a better chance to win than Cutler? No one responded because there isn't a QB on the Bears roster that gives them a better chance to win than Cutler. Jimmy Clausen was released in late Nov and David Fales was just brought up from the Bears practice squad to backup Cutler and he has no NFL starting experience. Do you think he gives the Bears a better chance to win than Cutler? I didn't think so! lol

The original point is that you knew exactly what he meant after he explained he was just being funny, but you couldn't just say, oh my bad, I see what you meant. Instead you turned it into a multi page pssing contest

He never explained he was being funny until after 3 replies and tossing an insult. He could have simply said he was kidding around in response to another post but HE chose to turn it into a multi page pissing match. I told him let's move on but he wouldn't. He was looking for an opportunity to take a shot because he's still smarting over an argument he had with me during the summer. There's a reason you hate agreeing with me care to divulge the reason? lol
