We had an issue last year with rushing guys back from injuries to try to save the season, most notably Romo, who quickly got hurt again vs. the Panthers.
There's no need at all to rush guys back this year. We're 11-1. It is imperative for our chances this year that we enter the playoffs with our secondary as healthy as we can get it.
We saw in the past 2 consecutive weeks vs the Commanders and the Vikings what a depleted secondary can result in. Missing Church, MoC and then Wilcox meant we struggled in a win over 1 of the best passing attacks in the NFL, and then the very next week against one of the worst.
The Commanders are #2 in the league at throwing the ball, the Vikings are #25. Our secondary struggled to contain both.
Missing Wilcox vs the Commanders & Vikes meant even when Byron Jones came up lame he couldn't come out of the game. We ended up giving lots of snaps to Jeff Heath and Kavon Frazier. And putting Anthony Brown out there as the 2nd corner instead of the nickel guy, something he's not ready for.
This 10 day window is coming at a great time for us before the Giants game to allow players to heal up, but it must be remembered: there are 4 more games to go before the playoffs start, and we've already locked up a playoff spot. Managing your injured/recovering players is one of the most important coaching decisions you make.
We could rush MoC and Wilcox back out there to ensure we lock up HFA in the next 2 games, and lock it up, but if MoC or Wilcox go down again and miss playoff games, was that worth it? I'd say no.
The best coaching call is to keep them out until they are 100% healthy and ready to go with little chance of a re-injury.
