I've heard so much talk about RG3 and Luck as rookies of the year and rightly so. But I've not heard much on the defensive side of the ball.

It seems to me Claiborne is already the best corner on the team. Any other rookie playing as well?

I heard a little about a MLB for the Seahawks.

But CB is a position where it takes time to excell.

Chandler Jones and Casey Hayward have been good

I love both those guys but my money is on Chandler Jones. Kid's going to be a superstar.

Claiborne needs more game changing plays to get on the list. It's always hard for corners without picks. Just being a wet blanket on a receiver won't get you the recognition it should for those types of awards.

Bruce Irvin is a situational passrusher, not even a starter.

I actually forgot about him when I replied.

Harrison Smith's been pretty good in MIN, too.

I think how Claiborne plays this week will go a long way in terms of recognition. Teams don't seem to be challenging him as much as you would've thought, considering that he's a rookie. I fully expect him to be in the mix for the award. We got a good one.

From what I've seen this season, I'd put it:

1.) Casey Hayward
2.) Chandler Jones
3.) Bobby Wagner
4.) Mike Martin
5.) Harrison Smith
6.) Mo Claiborne
7.) Alfonzo Dennard
8.) Luke Kuechly

But I have to admit, I don't really watch much Panthers. What I've seen, Kuechly looks OK, but Wagner has been better.

Wasn't Wagner our Second round target before we traded for MO?

That is the rumor. He's been terrific. We have an eye for linebackers.

Wish we had a eye for the OLine ..

You get voted in based on stats. He'd need at least 6 INTs to win, probably.

I'm just happy he's playing well enough to warrant the thread.

Nice list. Curious as to which pick each was taken with. But not enough to look it up. Can't even remember Mo's pick. Was it the 5th or 6th?

Mo won't win the award, but getting a star and potential All-Pro at a premium position will be priceless for our future.

Sacks usually win that award, but I'll take Mo over any of the names in this thread.....yeah he is playing that well for a rookie CB with little to nothing on our backend for support.

Hayward was a 2nd round pick. He was considered the best ballhawk at the CB position in college behind Mo.

Chandlers Jones was a 1st round pick. He is on pace for 14-15 sacks.

IMHO, Mo is #3 behind those two guys and trending upwards.

Hayward isn't the athlete Mo is and in the long run I believe Mo will be a far better corner.
