Clancy Pendergast fired

Well, someone has to be the fall guy for that final drive that let the Steelers score.

They were brining heat all the 2nd half, and it was working. Then they take the lead with 2:37 left, and decide to stop bringing pressure.

Stupid.

Wonder if he'd follow Haley to KC?
That would be a good guess. This is shocking because he had the Cardinals D playin pretty good throughout the playoffs.

Looks like Haley just found his new defensive coordinator in KC.

I was listening to Goose and he said the people he talked to around the league thought Pendergrast did a great job. They had Dansby, Wilson, Dockett, a young Cromartie and then 7-8 guys you could find on any roster in the NFL. Guys like Travis LaBoy was calling teams looking for jobs.

How many times do you see this?, it's really a poor decision.

They didn't "decide" to stop brining pressure. They have a undersized defensive front, and they wore down at the end of the game ... particularly when Pittsburgh ran the no huddle at the end. It's not like they specifically told Dockett to stop dominating off the snap .. he just ran out of gas.

And they did get pressure a couple of times on that final drive. They just couldn't get Ben down.

Make it to the Super Bowl and lose your job. This is a brutal business.

yep, and now kansas city will get a good defensive coordinator too

just exactly what we really needed, geez,

and we have to play the chiefs this year

and you better bet your bottom dollar, Haley will have that team geared up to play us hard

Correction...fell apart. Past tense. 2008 is over.

Yes it is a brutal business but one that if you are discharged in it, you can cry all the way to the bank.

Was he fired, or did his contract just expire and he decided he wants to leave?

Pendergast was on Gailey & Campo's staff for awhile here.

"Maybe next year"
Next year has not begun so in cannot be in process of falling apart unless we are suffering major casualties that I have not seen reported.
