Clarence Hill and Hellman nugget on Dak cracking under pressure

I will say this........some say it's him, others say he doesn't have enough talent around him. I don't know which it is but can both be true? Here's what I do know.......he played the GB like a free-agent rookie when ALL the marbles were aligned in his favor. There was no excuse for that whether you have a good or bad team and frankly I'm not sure he will ever recover from that gam

I don't think it's really cracking under pressure.
Dak doesn't have bad plays as much as bad games.
I'm guessing it's types of defenses he has problems with. Mixed zone and man coverage.
He's good against either but the mixture causes him problems. Against the mixture he throws to beat the man coverage but doesn't see the Zone he's throwing into, and because he's often a tick late in his poor games that approaching Zone can get into the play.

Let's face it -- Dak requires an OL that's nearly perfect to provide him the protection he desperately needs to succeed. This FO had better see to it that he gets it, if they really want to be competitive. Otherwise, Dak will proceed to freeze and suffer awkward blunders, whenever things get hectic. Understand that the Cowboys' FO has failed to afford him the protection that he must have to produce successful efforts. The realization that he often fails to react quickly under pressure must be dealt with for this offense to find success.
He also needs a Defense that can ensure we're in a lead (in the 4th Q). Going into the last couple of minutes, behind, dont expect much from Dak..... Dak's stats >2mins and >4mins (when trailing) are poor when comparing ratings with his contemporaries (Cousins, Goff, Stafford).

His Rookie year there was never a real instance where things were put on his shoulder until maybe that GB game. Remember his rookie year it was run heavy with Dak playing a very secondary role in operating that offense. The more they added to his plate the worst he got.
The oline and Zeke were *dominant* in Dak's first year. And with Dak being young and cheap, they felt free to run Dak. Dream scenario for a QB as a passer.

But his 'bad games' tend to be when he's behind (ie - under pressure).....If a team gets a lead, they go to the Blueprint, those Cover Two with moving Safeties and he's lost, he guesses as he's forced to expand out of his comfort zone.

But a Dak fan will always apportion blame, even when Dak's paid that CAP% to presumably overcome those "in-game issues" to take the responsibility.

The blame ALWAYS seems to include some other/different aspect, AND ALWAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT: HC, OC, Running game, O-Line, D-Line, Secondary......whilst paying Dak the money. He needs EVERYTHING to work for him to perform.

Even the JERRY argument: it's not just JERRY, giving Dak that contract is a death nail for the next couple of seasons.

You're probably right. I'm just saying Rayne spotted GB 14 points in the 1st half, so there's a big difference going into halftime at 13 or even 20-7 versus 27-7.
oh, no doubt. that's bad. we can't do that. he sucked. CD sucked. Parsons sucked. OL sucked. coaches sucked. none of them. none of them get an excuse or a pass on this. even without those two interceptions, we would have lost that game. probably by similar margin as GB, would have kept pressing. they showed mercy in the 4th.

am I blaming Dak for his bad play? yes. but am I blaming the entire loss on him? no....being down by 13!!!! that's just a wishful thinking of someone holding to a straw in the middle of a sunami.

and I think the game was over after first drive of each team. I saw it clearly. GB got the ball, went down the field, without any third downs. got inside the 10, made one mistake to end up in a 3rd down and they scored. we got the ball and were all over the place. CD dropping balls and worse he went to the side line pouting and coach having to consol him...

we looked lost. uninterested. already panicked. they looked poised. hungry and ready.

I love when people say it hit the Wide Receiver in the hands in reference to Dak. Never gets old
it did. I never said Dak played well. he missed players. he pressed at time. he threw interceptions. doesn't excuse CD from dropping passes and pouting on the sideline.

you clearly want to blame everything including inflation on Dak prescott. I get it. probably world war II was also his fault, somehow...

but I am not ready to excuse anyone on this team. none of them get a pass. including CD, Parsons, Diggs, Dak, coaches. all of them. what was Parsons excuse for showing up and throwing up!!! pathetic performance. now he wants paid 42M a year!!! for showing up against weak and pathetic teams and disappearing when it matters. just like Dak!!!

I have defended Dak and he is not the bum that many like to believe is. But the team was way better when they beat Seattle and Tampa. Like to see them win one game when its at least an even match.
Tampa game? The playoff game?

Lol at talking up beating a wild card Seahawks team at home and an 8-9 Bucs as your only playoff wins in a 10 year career.
Also, didn't the Seahawks kicker get injured, forcing them to go for it on every 4th down, or am I remembering that wrong?

Dream scenario for a rookie QB.

Almost all of them don't go to that kind of team. Rookie starting QB's are almost always drafted 1st round to a crappy team. HE of course played pretty well...and then we found out how good he was on an average team.

You beat me to it. Yes...a win is a win. Yes...a playoff win is a playoff win.

But boasting about your prowess and adeptness against that broken 8-9 Bucs team...one of the worst playoff teams in NFL history...

is just plain weird.

QBs don’t play QBs Clarence. They play the opposing team’s defense. Also, he didn’t go toe-to-toe with Rogers. He played slow in the first half against one of the worst pass Ds in the league, and then when they started to play soft, he played better but it came a little too late.
Not a little. Game was over when he started playing better.

Dak defenders just don't have anything left so they have to reach hard.
