Jerry Jones said they are inclined not to take a guard (decastro) at 14 because of what they did in free agency. But would take CB, LB, DE,DT

Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are very impressed and intrigued by Memphis DT Dontari Poe. They have done there homework on him and like him.

Jerry Jones said there is a chance the could trade out of 14. If they stayed there they would more than likely target a defensive player

Regarding Giants and owner John Mara spearheading the cap charge,Jerry Jones is looking forward to settling it on the field in season opener

Jerry Jones said the cowboys would be open to draft poe because they switch often between 3-4 and 4-3. poe can play DE, DT and NT

Jerry Jones said the Cowboys could still draft a CB at 14 despite the signing brandon carr because its a premium position

Phillips

With two new veteran guards, didn't sound like they'd go that direction. Then again, Jones never fully plays his draft hand.

He said signing Brandon Carr doesn't rule out a CB in the first round because it's a "premium position."

Jones didn't comment on the upcoming arbitration over $10 million penalty. Optimistic it will be resolved by the opener. Speaking of...

....says opening with the world champion Giants on Sept. 5 should be real motivation for the entire team the rest of the offseason.

Franchising Anthony Spencer doesn't preclude drafting a pass rusher high. Just keep in mind the team hasn't set their board yet. Very early.

God, I hate Jerry.

I'm fine if we don't draft DeCastro, I'm not fine if we don't draft him because we think Livings and Berna-whatever are the answer at guard.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't be disappointed if DeCastro isn't our guy, because I believe there will be some very good guards to be had in rounds 2-4. I'm leaning toward D-line in round 1 myself.

How can you not draft Oline after last year?????

Well Jerry might be smokescreening a lil, but last year about this time he was pretty honest with his interest in Tyron.

No matter how much doubt and risk there is about Poe, he is a physical freak of nature like Tyron and Dez and if available, he will get a look cause he is at a premium position unlike a guard......its just the way of the NFL really.

If we do trade down, it will be interesting although we do need someone who actually wants to move up to do it.

Please let DeCastro be gone by our pick, because if we pass on him it is a huge mistake.

I agree. Protecting Romo should be priority #1, and we all saw what our first pick from last year did. Imagine what getting another solid OL would do.

So the question I throw to the board is this - Is Jerry dumb enough to talk honestly to the media about how the team is thinking at this point with the draft?

I think JJ is being honest here but Garrett might be able to convince him to take Decastro if he is clearly the BPA @ 14.

Word is, he'd only had one drink, so no. ;)

It was an interview with Dallas media, pre draft, so I expect it was obfuscation and planned red herrings. The Poe puffing made me really think that's the case.

I still think they draft D first, but Jerry has been known to say one thing and do another.

I think we try and trade up to get konz in the late first. I'm assuming we trade back then get kirkpatrick or upshaw and then go konz which I will be very pleased with.

Jerry is baiting another team to jump ahead of us for Poe.

My money is on Jerry. Although Mara is a pretty tough guy, Jerry is a far better athlete. :D
