I don't know what it is but recently I have gotten 5 or 6 notices from law firms that I am a member of a class in a class action lawsuit. Anyone else experiencing this. Today, I got one regarding some Hexclad pots and pans my wife purchased. I can't keep track of all this suits anymore. With each one I have to file some form to get paid. The kicker is, they don't tell you what the payment is and it could be nothing but signing up could also get you on a mailing list.

Most of the other suits are regarding data breaches of some sort. The problem with these is if my data was actually breached there is no way to "unbreach" it. Whatever the award, which is usually a free subscription to some kind of identity protection program which is good for 1 year, but my data is out there forever.

I know the deal, btw. Usually a class action suit is filed by a lawyer acting on behalf of a "class". The lawyer fees are determined by the courts but are in the range of up to 33% of whatever award is granted to the class plus expenses. In other words, the lawyers get paid and everyone else gets a coupon for a free sample of the offending product.

It's a money grab for the bottom feeder ambulance chasing types.

I got the one from Hexclad as well. Most of the time I just ignore them but figured it was legit because it came from Amazon so I filled out the forms. It said they will be sending money on Sept 15th so we shall see.

The crazy part is they are by far the best pots and pans I have ever owned, I love them.

We bought them because they did not have the harmful chemicals that non-stick pots and pans normally contain. I like the pans although I think they tend to get hotter around the outside surface than in the middle of the pan, and they definitely get hotter than my old pans. But it turns out they do contain harmful non-stick surface chemicals so they lied. If you love the pans you can keep them and gets some money back too!

I opt out of every single one kg these I get. Mostly unethical money grabs, but also if you ever truly do have an awful situation you do not want to be part of the class

I'm still looking for the emotional damage class action lawsuit on Jerry Jones for making us stick through 30 years of no Super Bowl or NFC Championship. When one of you gets that going, let me know, I'll sign up.
