The hits keep coming for Notre Dame.
But the latest one might have left a mark.
Multiple reports say Irish QB Jimmy Clausen was punched by a fan outside a South Bend, Ind. bar early Sunday morning, following Notre Dame's double-OT loss to Connecticut on Saturday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Clausen was left with a black eye after the incident.

The Tribune says an employee at CJ's Pub confirmed Clausen was there with family members and other team members, but said the incident "absolutely did not take place inside the bar."

The paper also reported that South Bend police say they had no reports filed over the weekend with Clausen's name.

Considering Clausen is the only reason ND won any games this year at all it could not have been a ND fan.

If he is even 1/100 as cocky as he was coming out of HS and considering he was at a bar with a bunch of people drinking...it very well could have been a ND Fan, that is they still have many left.:D :p:

Wow. If you're that tied up in your teams that you feel the need to sucker punch, and attack, players from the team you root for then you need to step back and get your head checked.

That's just plain stupid.

It says HERE that it wasn't a bar, but a restaurant. Clausen was having dinner with his parents and some upperclassmen.

They should get this guy to fight the Steelers fan who killed the dog that I saw posted in the NFL Zone.

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- Police say a western Pennsylvania man told them he kicked his girlfriend's puppy to death because he was upset that the pit bull wouldn't behave before the start of the Pittsburgh Steelers game.
Twenty-two-year-old William Woodson, of Bridgeville, remained jailed Monday on a charge of animal cruelty.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that a witness told police that Woodson was kicking the dog down the street shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, which is when the football game began. Police say Woodson was supposed to be taking the pit bull for a walk, but the animal resisted. By the time police arrived, the puppy was dead.
Police say Woodson didn't like the dog and was upset that his live-in girlfriend bought it.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Woodson.

There have been several conflicting reports. Some mention family, others don't. Some mention dinner, others don't. One claims the incident occurred after 2 a.m.....not exactly prime chow time.

BTW, most reports say it was a ND fan...but I've yet to see any conformation or reasoning.

yeah sucker punching someone takes so much courage- not surprising some are happy about it.

well I always knew canadian had no concept about football and now he has proven it.

He's proven it well before today....at least concerning college football.

Wow. That's pathetic.

So bumfard, are you saying you think it is ok for Notre Dame to lose at home to Navy and Connecticut? Whether it is Clausen's fault or not, his team lost to a service academy and a basketball school at home.

coming from someone whose knowledge of college football could be inscribed on the head of a pin, dumbcanadian, I take it as a compliment.
