HOUSTON (Reuters) - Seven-times Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens announced on Wednesday that he would be coming out of retirement to play for the Houston Astros.
Clemens, 43, is expected to earn about $14 million to pitch for the National League club for the rest of the season.
The right-hander was 13-8 with a Major League-leading 1.87 ERA in 32 regular-season starts for the Astros last year.
Clemens was 341-172 with a 3.12 ERA and 4,502 strikeouts in an illustrious career with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Astros.
Houston is 27-26 this year and lies third in the Central Division, 6 1/2 games behind front-running St Louis.
