Want to know why the Cowboys kept cornerback Cletis Gordon for the 2010 season?

Returning punts and kickoffs.

Gordon and his agent Rodney Edwards asked could special teams be in the Cowboys' future plans for Gordon and were told yes.

If all goes according to plan, Felix Jones will not return kickoffs in 2010 and instead, Gordon will get the opportunity to do so. Returning punts is also in Gordon's future.

Now Gordon has returned just three kickoffs in his career for 73 yards. The last time he did it was 2008 for San Diego. He's returned three punts for 12 yards in his career, all during the 2006 season with San Diego.
-----------------------------

6 combined returns in his entire career.

I don't think Cletis is on the team come September.

That's the Raiders effect, not the player. Everyone goes to Oakland to suck, remember?

I really thought Gordon would get a look at those jobs last year.

Gordon's awesome in Madden 2010.........:)

I noticed this as well. He takes it to the house on punts and kicks. Too bad he is not that good in the real world.

I agree. He'll get the shot in training camp to compete with whoever else we're going to give shots to at those spots but he'll likely lose out and be off the team.

skyler green part 2?

Ideally that wouldn't happen.

And Green sucked anyway.

He had little-to-no wiggle, little-to-no speed.

Desperation pick big time. I'm on board with everyone else thinking that Dallas gets a real returner in the draft.

He'll be one of many to get a shot at it in training camp. I have a feeling either McCluster, Jordan Shipley, or Gilyard will be a Cowboy. All of which are return candidates.

I think Shipley is probably the most ready to play of the three but he might be the closest to peaking.

I do very much like the fact that he was able to develop of a Manning/Harrison like relationship with McCoy. They seemed to be on the same page and almost had that ESP communication.

I really like McCluster though. He is quick and shifty.

dc posted this vid a while back and the slant he runs in this clip would be perfect for this offense.

And here is another aspect.

Anyone wanna name that formation?

And look at that cut he makes. Off balance, he still shakes a guy out of his jockstrap.

He's quick, he's shifty and he gets up to top speed in a hurry. I know he didn't scorch at the combine but he can get up and going in no time.

I would really like McCluster.

Mcluster. 4.55 forty time.

True... But what all did Welker do in the 40?

You've gotta look at the game tape, and the guy makes plays.

And this coming from someone who wanted no part of McCluster to begin with lol
