Cleveland Game

Personally,

I'd simply play with our starters, Witten/Crayton and TO...bring in Bennett at times for two TE's, making the running game better with TO and Crayton out wide, but making it a difficult cover situation on the two TE's with LBs and Safeties.

Then if we go to 3 WR's, I'd put Stanback out wide, let him run the longer outs, curls, flies, posts...the defense has to respect him with a CB, that leaves TO probably being doubled on the other side, and Crayton working from the slot....or play Crayton out wide with Stanback and let TO play the slot and motion a lot to stay out of man coverage.

We go into this game with depth at WR, but we have enough to get the job done, especially since we want to run the ball, throw to our backs, and keep the Cleveland offense off the field.

Personally, I think this Cleveland game is going to be a really tough one for us....If Anderson starts, and I think he will, they have a very dangerous offense, and with Rogers in the middle of that DL and Wimbley back healthy rushing the passer, that Cleveland defense is not going to be a joke either.

IF we lose the opener, it won't be because of injuries to Hurd and Austin...it will be because Cleveland put up too many points on the defense we think is shaping up into "Doomsday", but hasn't proved it yet.

If we end up keeping one of the fringe WR's, I feel certain it will be Jefferson, not Amendola. I think they'll keep the guy because he spent last year on our practice squad and should have a much better understanding of the offense than Amendola. If a WR if forced onto the field in the first couple of weeks due to injuries, I think you want a guy who is less likely to make mental mistakes that cost you a turnover, and Jefferson has the better size for shielding the ball and for blocking. I could be wrong, but I still think Amendola ends up on the practice squad.

It won't be a cake walk. However they have a terrible secondary. TO will have a huge game. I suspect we put 35+ points on them.

I agree I think it will come down to how good our defense does and if we don't commit turnovers.

This game won't be close. They're D is flatout terrible, we're hang 35 plus pts on them. They're O is decent but we'll keep heat on which ever QB they play. I see a 35-13 type score...

Our kickoff coverage vs. the NFL's kickoff return leader in 2007 ought to be an interesting matchup.

edit: assuming he recovers from what is supposed to be a "low-grade" high ankle sprain, if there is such a thing.

We are simpatico today my friend. I see us winning fairly easy.
Cowboys 31-38 range and Browns 13-17 range.

Great minds think alike....:D

They did add Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers to beef up their interior D-Line which should make a difference particularly with us missing our starting LG. And of course, it's Game #1 on their field against the Cowboys so you know they'll be fired up. We cant afford to come out sluggish giving them an early lead and more confidence.

They'll air it out offensively, but as long as we contain Jamal Lewis in the running game, we'll be fine. Cowboys win by 8.

We also must keep in mind that Cleveland has injury problems as well with Anderson, Cribbs, Edwards and some members of there Secondary.

I'll tell you this, if Quinn doesn't resemble General Custer at his last stand I will be very disappointed at our Defence. I don't want to hear any excuses from them this year. I want a extreme amount of Pressure. Just like ole red ball said. No excuses this year, Oh well Spencer's hurt , were a little banged up, first game of the season. F*^#@ That, Just get it done, SET A BLOODY TONE FOR THE SEASON, SHOW THE NFC EAST WERE BACK IN FULL FORCE

Them having a crappy secondary is irrelevant.

We usually play down to our competition. Hopefully that's not the case this year.

The secondary is their weakness and we need to take advantage of it. We can spread them out a bit which should open up the middle for TO, Witten and Felix.

This game has bothered since it was first announced and do not think it will be a cake walk like some here think. They will be very pumped beat us to show they are legit and get their season rolling.

I think we are going to try and run the ball down their throat.

Its the first game, on the road, and a million miles away.

Barber and Felix will get a lot of touches.

It may be close in the first qtr and a half but we run away with it in the 3rd and 4th qtrs. We're gonna be just as pumped...
