Clinching a playoff spot

Dallas clinches at least a wildcard with the following:

Winning vs. Washington and the Jets putting them at 10-1 and

One loss and one tie or two losses by Arizona, Philadelphia and Chicago the next two weeks, losses by NO and Carolina this week and a tie in their game next week and a loss by Washington against Tampa and one loss or tie by Minnesota and Atlanta either week.

This would assure that only 7 NFC teams could finish with 10 wins and the seventh would be Washington who Dallas would beat in the tiebreaker even if they lost their last five games thanks to a better division record.

I realize this scenario, especially the NO/Carolina tie, is unlikely and that most people are looking for the division and HFA but clinching even a wild card guarantees a seat at the final table.

It would be nice to have a playoff spot clinched by the end of November. When's the last time that happened for us?

Thanks info. I was thinking about that this morning of how close are we to clinching a playoff spot.

Because Dallas plays Green Bay on Thursday the 29th, if Dallas wins it's next three games, clinching in November is highly likely. Getting to 11 wins would only require one loss or tie by each of the current five loss teams in the next two weeks.

And even if it wasn't statistically clinched, it would be nearly impossible for a team to miss the playoffs with 11 wins in the NFC.

If not mistaken we are 3 games from clinching the NFC East

That would require the Giants losing two of their next three. Statistically speaking, if they win out they could still go 13-3, which would require us to win 13 games.

The earliest that Dallas could clinch the NFCE is 11/29 against the Packers. That would require Dallas to win it's next three games and the Giants to lose at Detroit and at home against the Vikings. Washington and Philadelphia would be eliminated on the division record tiebreaker, the Giants on the head to head.

Clinching a playoff spot??

My expectations far exceed the clinching of a playoff spot, in fact it is already a forgone conclusion

Nothing is clinched until it is clinched. I do agree my expectation is higher than just making the playoffs
