Clip from Robert Saleh on players learning new defensive systems takes time

Even though we have another new DC and scheme. This defense should not look this bad. No excuse for the constant wide open receivers.
You can see it happening once in a while, to all teams. But it happens 80% of the time to this team, or so it seems.

That 3rd and 21 at a critical time was atrocious. I can see if it was a contested catch. But wide open, no coverage is not acceptable.
I’ve been watching the Cowboys and the NFL for many years and I’ve never seen such a porous defense than what we’ve seen these last 2 years. I don’t understand how it can be so bad. And we’ve seen no improvement. They’ve actually gotten worse giving up the most yards of the year against the 0-4 Bucs with an undrafted QB playing his 2nd game. Love is in a funk but do we have any hope that he won’t put up a career day? There’s a little, but not much. Jerry keeps saying he’s getting old and wants to win now then hires a rookie DC? Doesn’t make sense.

Robert Saleh isnt a miracle worker

But he would have this defense with this talent playing average defense….
Yeah he's not BB in his orime, but when looking at the field when MM was fired, I thought he was the best option available.

I’d strongly disagree on less talent. They’ve drafted the top defensive players multiple consecutive years. The talent is there.
Like three years in a row I mean is he blind They have top five pics worst top 10 pics mostly used on defense. It's just weird that Harbuagh gets these flowers..

There's only one reason that the Giants are being successful right now it's not because how great you're playing This happens every time the Cowboys and Eagles struggle Is Washington want it like ugly 45 years ago what was it like nine wins got in the they 8-8 I can't remember, NYG Did it that one year with Daniel Jones..

You know they just take advantage of the Eagles and Cowboys are down I want it till the end of the year but we judge all this at year end and then can talk about how great the Giants are...

Look they're taking advantage of it so kudos to them but I'm not that impressed the Cowboys have they had four possessions to beat them they figured them out in the 2nd half and couldn't get Ball back on offense..

He's who I really really wanted when MM was fired. We got someone not even close. Makes me sad.
Maybe he has A DC I mean he talks good I don't think the Titans are spring life yeah maybe I haven't been paying attention..

0-4

That's what we want our fan base is crying last year, BS won seven games having 1 of the best offenses in the league but again this year one of the best offenses in the league that is what our head coach bringing us so his is the defense side either way this dude hasn't even won a game,

yeah we should also get D.ryan of the Texans, I mean I remember when people said man smart run that was to bring the young up and coming dynamic DC for HC job also winless..

Wouldn't survive here in the zone..

Go mad at 2-3

Some of you are just saying things and I don't get yeah this is the one I wanted,

I do not think hes been a successful as a head coach ,anyway maybe as a DC maybe but to say hey that's who I wanted like bank shyamers done a bad job no he has it His side of the ball he called off this is doing great.

NOPE RETREAD, Y'all can try to hide and act like you didn't want another retreat you watch someone younger.. The backtracking in here is insane yes for having struggles so is he I mean a great coach let's say that lap let's be consistent a great coach needs to do more than just on his side of the ball he is responsible for the offense all of it special teams why is Team endless no you're being a hypocrite that's what you want because you can fix our defense But but he's not doing well with the rest of that team I don't see it and don't say 'cause I have a quarterback that's his job too make sure he gets the right players You're gonna say it's not then I'm gonna say OK neither is Ryan Schottheimer not his fault that he got those defense coordinators and those offensive players and those special teams players it's not his fault then he's doing hate on his side of the ball..

Did you see that 9ers defense last year under saleh when they lost most of their starters? Seems like the drop off was minimal. The defense still performed at a high level.

Perhaps this is what we are seeing with CP and the installation of his system

Good stuff!
I did read or heard that CP intends to teach his players to understand what the offense is trying to accomplish, recognize its intentions, and attack it intelligently rather than simply dropping into a designated area of the field. But I could be wrong.

I believe his defensive system was suppose to draw heavily from Vic Fangio’s philosophy.

That could create a significant learning curve. The players must learn not only their assignments but also how to read offensive formations, recognize route combinations, communicate adjustments, and react accordingly. If they master it, the defense could become much more effective. The question is how quickly the players can learn and execute the system consistently.

Some issues are on Parker. Certain schemes and packages have hurt the team.

Against Baltimore? Man defense with outside contact? 3rd and 21 and playing soft defense?

Not everything is him. Bland cannot stay on his feet, Winters misses damn near every tackle. Pass rusher refuses to make a tackle

Maybe we should tell the first place Giants this. They are on the first year of their defense.

They are 9th in total defense. And one could argue with less talent than Dallas.

Coaching matters.
Less talent than Dallas? Their team is littered with first round talent lol. Coaching for sure matters but coaching can’t overcome bums and I’m not entirely sure if Blands play is a product of coaching.

Good post

It’s a lot of bad defenses and most of them are new DCs to be honest. Bills stink, Cowboys stink, Commanders, Ravens, Packers, Chargers….all new coaches.
