Are The Cowboys Wasting Dak Prescott's Prime Years? G-Bag Nation

This is comical. In a Shanahan offense he'd likely already have a ring...especially with the defense the 49ers have fielded over the last five years. He is producing the highest EPA under the QBR metric right now:

  • 228 quarterback action plays — most in the NFL.
  • +39.0 passing EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +45.5 total EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +23.9 points above average — most in the NFL.
True. Daks not going to be good enough to overcome the organizational deficits but if he had ended up with a team like the 49ers he'd probably have a ring by now (or at least a Superbowl appearance).

It's also a lot harder to win a Superbowl then most make it seem. Only 6 out of 32 teams have won a Superbowl since Dak was drafted

You’re not wrong.

Jimmy Johnson was hell bent on having smart players. He stated he wouldn’t have given Dak that 2nd contract.

Take from that what you will.

I’d be interested in how Prescott did on the wonderlic exam.

Tony Romo...37, next to Stafford's 38. But note how many Superbowl winning quarterbacks are MUCH lower than Romo. You might recognize a few. Football is not rocket science. It's more recognition than anything. NINE superbowl winners. Marino, Garropolo, McNabb, Newton also made it to a superbowl...without winning. 13 in all made it from this list...and some others above 29.

Well your summary states that Dak was instructed by the head coach to throw the ball away if his first read wasn't open. Pickens wasn't open before Dak threw the ball away.

I can't believe people are still making false narratives about a play that happened weeks ago.
Humans are weird about assigning blame...myself included.

Dak literally signed up for this organization. He pushed for Schotty. At this point Dak has enormous input in offensive game planning. You don’t get that contract and then sit in a closet waiting for the HC/OC to tell you what to do. It’s absurd to suggest otherwise. Dak could walk in, tell Jerry to hire xyz coach that has the style you suggest and it would happen that day.
Prescott has NEVER come off as a guy who doesn't do what he's told. He comes off more like a guy who does ONLY what he's told.

Again. Who comes up with these formations sir? Who is the play-caller? Who is the offensive coordinator? What happened is NOT something Schottenheimer hasn't shown before. He's known for it. It's similar to how Garrett used to go conservative in road games during his tenure as HC.

There is no quarterback in the league that is doing more for his team than Prescott right now (according to QBR):

  • 228 quarterback action plays — most in the NFL.
  • +39.0 passing EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +45.5 total EPA — most in the NFL.
  • +23.9 points above average — most in the NFL.

Tyron Smith, Jason Witten, Zack Martin, Dez Bryant, Travis Frederick, Zeke, Roy Williams, Tony Romo,

And soon

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb

If Dak were on any other team, we'd be talking super bowls.
If Dak was drafted by a team like the browns, he’s have been a back up or out of the league by now.

Dude couldn’t even put up double digits against a winning team when Zeke was suspended and when he worked with mediocre WRs he set the franchise record for most games with less than 200 yards passing. They had to sell for Amari Cooper and even then, his numbers against zone were garbage. And that was with 3 all pros on OL. He couldn’t work with Dez Bryant or Terrance Williams.

The last 12 years has been nothing but catering to him.

Hes also played in the absolute worst division in football for years. Fan boys want to attribute the wins to him and the losses to his defense, but when he plays absolute bottom dweller defenses, suddenly it’s the powerhouse that is Dak..

This guy currently has two number 1 WRs on offense, who can beat any DB in one on one matchups.

Romo on the other hand wasn’t even allowed in the game planning meetings or input when Garrett had full control. Jerry finally allowed it when Romo had leverage via his contract. That’s where the “Peyton Manning” like quote actually came from.

Bro, Dak gets paid $60 million (or will through various guarantees) per season. Schotty gets paid $4.5 million. Do you actually believe Dak’s input does not heavily factor in basically every single facet with play-calling and offensive game planning. Dak could literally change the entire offensive system (and coordinator/coaches) with a simple conversation with Jerry. Dak, Brian, Jerry, and the entire team know that already-and honestly all fans should know that too (look who gets canned when the offense struggles, hint it’s the coaches EVERY SINGLE TIME).

Any formation, route design, and offensive scheme strategy must have tacit approval by the Golden Boy. Dak signed up with this organization knowing the way Jerry operates and the coaching staffs he puts together. 95% of the cap cash and best draft resources have been dedicated to give the offense lots of firepower until about a year ago-when the team did a Hail Mary to dramatically improve the defense (it obviously has not worked yet).

Whatever reverence you feel towards Dak is hilarious to me because it’s your opinion/ choice. I equate Dak with Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Brock Purdy and guys on that tier. I do not equate him with Pat Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen. Never will. He’s just the guy playing QB for the Cowboys as far as I’m concerned. Not a centerpiece. A useful cog in the offensive wheel. The elite players on offense for me are Ceedee, Pickens, and Tyler Smith. Then there are several very good players and I think Dak is one of them.

Dak’s “Texas West Coast” was built on quick passing and it was an utter failure. They were a laughing stock, so they had change at the bye and the office essentially became force feed CeeDee Lamb.
