Lol. Really... Damn. Apologies.

Yeah. I don't follow basketball but watched enough ESPN to see it play out.

Cool thing is, I think there was a stipulation in the sale that would have the owner of the Thunder return the Supersonics name, brand, and whatever else to Seattle if they ever got another team.

So any future team will be the Supersonics and they'll get the Sasquatch back, I think.

Yup... Just read that.

Only really watched because, admittedly, cause of Jordan. Then lost interest. Lol

fwiw, I don't see why the NBA doesn't drop the fine. What's 2.5 million compared to how much they generate per season? And the life time ban+making him sell the team is really enough.

What is $2.5 million compared to the$ 2 billion that the team sold for?

This has been a weird situation from the get go. Sterling is and has always been a turd. He gets in trouble for what he says in the privacy of his own home, which is a very slippery slope. He is complaining about due process, but that doesn't hold. The NBA has its own standards and by those standards due process has been achieved. Part of that due process was never reached. The league never got to the point of actually voting him out of the league or forcing him to sell the team. His estranged wife took the initiative and sold the team before the vote occurred. The use of an illegally obtained recording of a private conversation is an ugly mark in this whole thing, but I don't see how Donald Sterling can win in this situation.

Sterling isn't the type of guy I expect to take the high road, so while 2.5 million is a drop in the bucket......a pretty big drop, I expect him to act this way.

He can easily win if he can find fault with the Competency ruling. This is what Shelly Sterling used to obtain the right to sell. If this ruling has holes in it, and I think it might, then he can stop the proceedings. That would then take the buffer away from the NBA and force them to prove a case against him directly, which may or may not be possible. Either way, it would be a lengthy process and that's not what the NBA wants or needs. They were stupid to do this in the first place IMO, but it's done now.

when you look at Sterlings history, the fact that it took this to get him out is a pathetic comment on not only the NBA but the sports media for failing in what they SHOULD have done years ago.
