Clocking the ball

Sorry if this has already been covered but why does it seem it takes us forever to clock the ball? It had no bearing on the outcome because we scored but it seemed like it took us 12 seconds or so to clock the ball near the end of regulation. Romo had to line up his receiver before snapping the ball...

In that case, it seemed everyone was lined but except Ogletree. Romo had to motion him to the left, and then get him to move up to the line of scrimmage. Not sure if that was KO or not, but if it was, pretty bone headed.

Looked like an awfully complicated formation for them to call on a clock the ball call. Unless that was suppose to be a play call and Romo clocked it to regroup.

And this AFTER his similar, nonchalant attitude in the Ravens' game.

Hopefully, one more good offseason cleaning (OTree, Felix, Jenkins, etc) should do the trick.

I pray for the day when we have a team full of guys foaming at the mouth instead of punching the clock and collecting a check.

i could be wrong but i thought it looked like romo was intent on calling another play instead of spiking it and then changed his mind which led to the confusion.

he probably was going to run a play but then he noticed Olgetree was on the field so he decided to clock it.

Yeah looked as though they were going to run a play, wish they had.

The thing about it is that Witten blasted off for the back of the end zone when that ball was snapped.

Now that isn't significant until you notice that they ran the very same play from that yard marker later in that series.

So how many times must a DB see a route before they recognize it?

Witten could have caught a TD pass on the second try on that route if Romo had made a nearly impossible touch pass.

What caused that pass to be so difficult was the two DBs that were right on Witten.

So who called that play a second time and did he go to an Ivy League school?

Ah, a poster who "gets it", that is rare these days.

I think OTree lined up on the wrong side and it would have been an Illegal Formation penalty with no eligible receiver covering the OT. Romo had to get him on the correct side and then tell him to get up on the line. OTree is just plain dumb.

You're the winner.
OTree has to get his *** to the other side of the line, and up on the line. He was jogging around like it was the first QTR. No football IQ

Yeah, we do have some smart fans on this forum.. Ogletree definitely screwed the pooch on the play you are commenting on OP.

Yeah, I think Romo had a play in mind, but when Otree didn't now where to go or what to do, he went w/ the spike.

What is clocking the ball?

Stopping the clock by intentionally not completing a pass. And, yes, KO blew that.

That's what it looked like to me.

That was my take. It seemed like he was actually lining up a fiormation rather than just a clock set-up. I realize where WRs need to go and all, it just seemed too convoluted to me.
