Hey guys

After an unlucky incident, my old laptop has gone bad and I couldn't save thousands of pictures. All of the pictures and videos stored in that lap top is gone.

Now I want a reliable cloud service for what I have. 20 GB of photos and videos.

Price isn't deal breaker. Ready to pay $100 per year or more if necessary.

What I am looking for is below.

1) Easy, simple upload and download process.
2) User friendly interface.
3) Reliable

What are some suggestions? Again, I am not looking for cheap options. I lost pictures of my babies and I am extremely sensitive now for reliability.

Thanks again for all the support.

Pics or it didn't ... nevermind.

Actually, I thought you did work with Linux which is why I made the comment. I was being facetious.

Please don't laugh at me when I say this. I don't even know what a hard looks like. I took it to a computer store and they said this isn't salvagable and can't pull anything from it. Maybe they just blew me off or maybe it isn't working.

I am not saying this is what happened, but a lot of computer places that repair computer and/or sell hardware will tend to tell you that the data is lost rather than try to recover it even when, as iceberg mentioned, it would only require removing it from the computer and hooking it up to an external cable or enclosure. The reason they do this is because the odds are against the data being recovered when a computer won't boot and most customers are unlikely to pay for the time spent trying to recover the data if the data ends up not being recovered. For example, if someone takes their car to the shop and they say they tried, but were unable to fix it, then handed the customer a $300 bill for their attempt, it likely wouldn't go over well with the customer.

No matter what, I highly recommend keeping the old (supposedly bad) drive. Recovery is not time limited, so even though you may not have someone who can attempt to recover the data now, you might find someone eventually.

Good points. Even if a hard drive can't boot there's still a good chance the data is fine. This would be worth getting a second opinion. If it's really important data there are companies you can ship the drive to that can recover data from physically damaged drives ... but they cost a lot for their service.

As it has been pointed out previously, cloud storage is great but having a local copy on an external hard drive is even better in my opinion. I use a free program called "F Backup" to backup all my data every Sunday morning while I'm at church.

@Shunpike

I would recover it for you, but you're a filthy Giants fan. :D

Actually, I would be willing to try and recover the data for you. Though, I don't live in NJ and you would need to get the drive to me somehow.

Thanks guys. I will take the laptop to another place. The sad thing is, I have a friend called Sam I Am and he is totally useless.

I will try to resolve it but if I can't, let's plan on watching season opener at a bar together, i will bring the laptop and give to you and you can upload pictures if you can extract them.

I went with Amazon Cloud. As a prime member I get free unlimited photos plus 5GB for other files. I will now upload everything accordingly. Amazon also has an app for iPhone where all photos are uploaded into Amazon cloud once you are in wifi. Nice. So far so good.
