Part One of Cowboys Nation's weekly chat with The National Football Post's Wes Bunting looks at draft rumors involving Dallas' first pick, players with medical and character concerns, 2nd and 3rd round options and the top fullback prospects:

Cowboys Nation: I want to follow up on the Aldon Smith rumors. On the weekend you tweeted that you've heard the Cowboys really like Aldon Smith. Yesterday, I saw Michael Lombardi say the same thing on the NFL Network. Can you say more about what you have heard?

Wes Bunting: I've heard they have some interest. They like Aldon Smith and they like Tyron Smith and those are the two players who could be the pick. That's about as much as I can say. They like a pass rusher and they like an offensive tackle and I agree. I think they're both excellent players.

I like Aldon Smith alot, I have been saying for months than Aldon SMith is the best 3-4 SOLB in this draft.
But I do not want to go another year with out a RT in the draft. If Dallas takes Aldon Smith then they better trade back into the lower 1st or take a RT in round 2.

I think the bigger need is OT than another OLB. We have a starter at OLB we don't at RT.

IF the interest in Aldon is sincere it leads me to believe Jerry was telling everyone more then they needed to hear when he discussed trade down options at #9.

Not sure when the interview was exactly done but im kinda disapointed he didnt bring up the report regarding tyron's knee just to "put it to bed" .

I see a great unrest on the horizon especially amongst the many mockticians if we took Marecic over Hynoski :D

Refresh my memory SDogo. What did Jerry say? I think this only happens if Tyron Smith is gone by pick 9 or we do a small trade down someone takes him before us then we take Aldon.

He just commented very early in the process that he has already received a lot of interest in the #9 pick.

My assumption is if he gets an offer he likes and the Cowboys are as high on Aldon as the reports suggest he should feel pretty comfortable trading down in the 10-15 range and still being able to come away with Tyron, Aldon, Castanzo, Prince or Jordan which all seem to be the players picking up heat.

Who would be the target RT in the second round if we took Aldon? We would be forced to get one at that point?

It could be Sherrod, Cannon, Carpenter or Solder if he slides. Possibly Carimi if he's not taken in the first.

If Carimi slides and Aldon is the pick I would be stoked. Can't really ask for more than that.

Possibly Sherrod

Been hearing a lot about Solder falling into the 2nd, I dont find it a coincidence Dallas has shown a last minute interest.

Marcus Cannon is also a interesting name.

It's also interesting that they have taken some interest in 3rd and 4th round prospects at OT as of late.
