CNNSI: Don Banks Mock No. 2

Someone needs to tell Mr. Banks the Raiders and 49ers already flipped the coin.

Hard to envision us using our #1 on a FS. Esp when there are some good ones out there in FA who aren't going to be very expensive to sign.
Plus, do you really want a rookie back there as your last line of defense in coverage? The only FS that would interest me in the first is Huff. There are plenty of good ones that will be available in the 2-6th rounds.
I prefer Chavous in FA...or Demps or Jackson or Schulters to a rookie and use the draft picks on other positions...like LB and OL.

Huff will be drafted to play CB. Most of the other Safeties wil go in 2-3rd round range. Ko is no 1st round pick. It's going to be a linebacker at 18.

If you are talking about FA safeties Chris Hope should be number 1.

someone needs to tell you they havent. Its supposed to be officially done at the combine. I like Ko though, he seems to be a big playmaker.

There is no "Official" time for the flip to occur. It happens when the two teams decide they want to do it. So it could of already happened. I think I remember hearing it happened during the senior bowl practices.

Ko is not a first rounder and if we used our first rounder on a FS...it'd be dumb. Esp with all those FA FS's out there with experience that would command a salary probably at or below a first round pick. Huff is the only DB I would consider in the first because of his versatility...but still, another first round pick on the secondary? Financially, its smarter to use your draft pick on a more pricey position.
