If our “Hall of Fame” owner is as good as he thinks he is as a football guy, why doesn’t he just go ahead and name himself as head coach. For me, I would love to see “Coach Jones” finally leave the owners box, put on a headset and a ball cap, and become the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Why not? He’s already said publicly that “100 guys could coach this team.” He already hires all the assistant coaches, attends coaches meetings, holds post game pressers, meddles in areas that normal NFL GMs would never do, makes personnel decisions, manages the socks and jocks, and decides what kind of hot dogs are served at the stayjum, etc, etc. He already acts like a HC at TC with his coaching attire and stupid “State of the Cowboys” mumbling session before TC opens every year.

Why not just make it official “Coach Jones”?

OK Coach Jones- show us the rest of your “football genius”. Take over this floundering team and put your billions where your mouth has been for nearly 30 years. If you are as good as you’ve implied for decades, take us to another super bowl. Mr. Hall of Famer- show us the way, LOL!

He will never do it. Because by having a hand picked “milk toast” head coach, self appointed “football genius” Jones always has a convenient scapegoat. And he will never put himself in any position that does not allow him to pretend his is a football power broker.

Sadly for you, Coach Jones, most Cowboys fans learned a long time ago that the real crack in the foundation, fly in the soup, cancer in the culture, and primary cause of the last 20+ plus years of consistent mediocrity is YOU.

So why don’t you step into the role you have coveted since that long ago February night in 1989 when you bought this team? Name yourself head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Why not? You’ve named yourself everything else with this franchise?

Do it “Coach Jones!” You’ve already made a joke of America’s team. You being head coach would be the final punch line in the joke you’ve already made of yourself.

So, instead of having the clapper on the sideline, we'll have the gum smacker! Brilliant! :D

I thought Garrett would make it through the year, no matter what. If this continues, I think Jerry might fire Scotty and make Garrett call the plays to save his J.O.B.

I'm convinced that hc jones has been setting the starting lineups for years. It's very much in jerry's dna to mk sure those recently drafted mk the starting lineup or get reps during games to "prove" there were no mistakes in our drafts.

No other franchise has to contend with such huge disadvantages that are at the core of why we havent won anything in over two decades. Jerry is the only constant during our 22 year zero div playoff win streak, so dont blame any player or coach cause the blame starts and ends with Jerry.

My hope is that Stephen is not filled with folly and hubris like his drunk pappy. Two decades are an eternity to wallow in mediocrity.

The only other hope is that Jerry will lose the franchise for Jerry Richardson-like activitites, but thats a pipe dream.

He’d never officially place himself on the sidelines for the reasons you’ve so admirably laid out here to be publicly humiliated.

Jerry instead has brilliantly set his course with his HOF contributions which have set the Cowboys and the NFL up for financial success despite the success on the field so he can continue his personal pursuits and ambitions without directly thrusting himself into the ring of fire.

Ironic, since JJ took away play calling from the Clapper so he could be a “walk around” Coach a few years back. I hate this losing but as usual, the dysfunction is nothing if not entertaining.
