There’s still a pretty good base of fans who are providing a lifetime pass for his early success.
I keep wondering if it’s going to take an entire generation of younger Cowboys fans experiencing loss and frustration to wake them up to what has been happening over 20 years.

My 17 yr old son knows nothing about a great Cowboys team in his lifetime. He loves the NFL and fantasy football but in his lifetime, there have been 2 Cowboy playoff wins and they occured in separate years. Very few of his friends are Cowboys fans (I live in Dallas) for the same reason: his generation views cowboys as losers and rightfully so. This is a small example how Jerry's insistance on being the gm has lost an entire generation of fans.

The fan base is already detoriating. Local viewership , etc has been down for several years but with the new stadium , etc its had little effect. As a matter of fact revenue has increased.

Unfortunately Bob, it hasn’t been about just football for awhile now .

Name yourself head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Why not? You’ve named yourself everything else with this franchise?

been saying that for 23+ years but he never had the balls to do it, wish he had right after Jimmy left and MAYBE it would be out of his system by now

The only other hope is that Jerry will lose the franchise for Jerry Richardson-like activitites, but thats a pipe dream.

Ah, but what a wonderful dream it is

for me personally, it would be sweeter than 2 Soup Bowl wins to see jeri and spawn lose the franchise and have to haul their sorry ***** out of Dallas for good

I have the "Ding dong the witch is dead" song cued up just in case!

I wish Staubach had been able to buy the team in '89.

I've had that very thought many times over the years. He's still competitive as hell and would be great to have in the fold

SO sick of the jeri and spawn show

We would have won 5 or 6 super bowls if Roger was in charge.

Roger could probably afford the $5 billion price tag. If only the NFL could find some serious dirt on Jerry and the Jones cartel.

The funny thing about Jerry- he’s got ALMOST everything he ever wanted. Billions in cash, a permenant cash cow, a gold jacket, a lifetime contract for him and his entire family. But there’s one thing that has escaped him- CREDIBILITY as a real football man. He’s tried for 25 years to get the rest of the world to think he’s not only a great businessman but also the architect of football glory. And that’s one thing he will never be.

If our “Hall of Fame” owner is as good as he thinks he is as a football guy, why doesn’t he just go ahead and name himself as head coach. For me, I would love to see “Coach Jones” finally leave the owners box, put on a headset and a ball cap, and become the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Why not? He’s already said publicly that “100 guys could coach this team.” He already hires all the assistant coaches, attends coaches meetings, holds post game pressers, meddles in areas that normal NFL GMs would never do, makes personnel decisions, manages the socks and jocks, and decides what kind of hot dogs are served at the stayjum, etc, etc. He already acts like a HC at TC with his coaching attire and stupid “State of the Cowboys” mumbling session before TC opens every year.

Why not just make it official “Coach Jones”?

OK Coach Jones- show us the rest of your “football genius”. Take over this floundering team and put your billions where your mouth has been for nearly 30 years. If you are as good as you’ve implied for decades, take us to another super bowl. Mr. Hall of Famer- show us the way, LOL!

He will never do it. Because by having a hand picked “milk toast” head coach, self appointed “football genius” Jones always has a convenient scapegoat. And he will never put himself in any position that does not allow him to pretend his is a football power broker.

Sadly for you, Coach Jones, most Cowboys fans learned a long time ago that the real crack in the foundation, fly in the soup, cancer in the culture, and primary cause of the last 20+ plus years of consistent mediocrity is YOU.

So why don’t you step into the role you have coveted since that long ago February night in 1989 when you bought this team? Name yourself head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Why not? You’ve named yourself everything else with this franchise?

Do it “Coach Jones!” You’ve already made a joke of America’s team. You being head coach would be the final punch line in the joke you’ve already made of yourself.

Jerry isn't on the sidelines b/c its bad optics. . He could easily do what Garret does........which is basically throw challenge flags , call timeouts , and be a bastion of positivity. It is very reassuring to players that no matter how badly they screw up, the carrot will always be there to applaud and encourage.

The real villain is Bum Bright. He had other options for owners but chose Jerry cause Bum had a Hardon with Landry. Wanted him fired but didn’t have the balls or authority himself.

Part of Bums agreement buying from Murchison was to keep Tex in control of football operations.

Our owners should have been either Dr Jerry Buss the Lakers owner or Donald Carter the Mavericks original owner.

Both of which offered higher bids than Jerry but didn’t promise to fire Jerry.

Bum’s financial situation needed immediate bail out as he had filed bancruptcy with Savings and Loan fallout and the Cowboys were losing about a million a month.

Jerry had cash and the NBA owners would need time to sell their majority stakes in their ownerships before being approved by NFL.
