It's because you're less likely to see the big picture. Did you even witness Jackson's first six titles?Dallas Cowboys Fan;4249738 said:I still don't see what being young has to do with anything.
What can't be disputed? That pros are better than amateurs? What does that have to do with Phil Jackson vs. Coach K? Jackson coaches better players, so he is a better coach? That's the worst "logical" conclusion I've ever seen.Bottom-line it's much harder to coach professional basketball than college basketball. The players in the pros are much better and the competition is much greater. That much cannot be disputed.
And every March there are 68 teams that get put into a tournament where you have to play your best every single night... The Lakers just got swept by the Mavericks this past summer where it looked like they didn't even show up for the series. The thing is though, that you don't have to show up every game in an NBA series to move on to the next round. You just have to show up for 4 out of 7.
You don't get to do that in the NCAAs. You don't show up, you go home. And out of those 68 teams, there are usually 10-15 teams who have a legitimate shot of winning it all. You can't say that about the NBA.
So yeah, it can absolutely be disputed that the "competition is greater" in the NBA.
I don't even know why I'm arguing with you. I've already said it's impossible to compare the two objectively. You haven't said anything more than "ZOMG he's got more titles!!!!!111!!" That's not a debate. Go do your homework. That is why Phil Jackson is the greatest of all time. He won 11 championships in the best and most competitive basketball league in the world.
