So we have been told by some on this board that coaching is overrated. Basically an excuse not to blame Garrett and put it all on the players. So tell me this, the Cowboys have a hell of a lot more talent on offense then the Patriots but yet could only muster up 16 points at home and get pretty much get dominated at home. Patriots score 24 with a make shift o-line, no tight ends, average running backs, and average at best receivers besides Edelman who actually missed some time in this game. When you watch the Patriots you see a well coached team that manufactures positive plays on offense with their lack of talent. That isn’t the players just lining up and executing that’s a coaching staff that gives them the opportunity to be successful. If you come away saying coaching is overrated after watching the Patriots I don’t know what to tell you then.

Can you post a link to someone that said coaching is overrated?

90% of this board is all too aware that coaching matters.....I remember a thread where we had a few of the ‘players play- coaches coach’ schtick.

I think in an age where talent is developed so early and there are so many distractions to players........I think coaching has never been more important.

Who the hell on this board has said coaching is overrated? Everyone I’ve met has called for someone’s head on this coaching staff.

I think overrated is the wrong term used by OP. More like some people here (Garrett knob slobberers) say coaching doesn’t matter as much as people seem to think.

To answer the OP, coaching matters. NFL rosters are pretty evenly matched with the exception of some teams but a quality coaching staff can plan a game to defeat inferior coaching with a more talented roster.

Dre111 has the only post that says its overrated. 1 person saying this makes this a thing?

What 95% of posters miss on here is that coaching is WAY MORE than just play calling. It’s instilling that attention to detail that makes players secure the ball to the ground, wrap up tackling and don’t take throws for granted.

That is the part of coaching the team is missing. I think defensively there could be some more blitzing but it would also be solved by better DTs.

Some people agreed not many but some did. I didn’t say a lot of people. I just find it crazy there is even a small amount that believe it.

There is something suspicious in that thread.

One of these 3 (I won't name names per se) has been know to have multiple identities at another site...

FYI - I didn't see anybody say that coaching does not matter. I say several say that Garrett did not out-coach anybody.
Not the point! Ease up!!!

We don't have to go to Boston, just look at the boys. Coaching matters!
