MM is almost certainly going to have to take the blame . This team has more talent but looks worse under MM and his staff . MM has managed to make Garrett look better , somehow. No direction , no emotion, and no authority with the players. It is not all his fault as there are major talent gaps and hugely overpaid players on the roster.

At some stage , probably next year , Jerry will have to own and probably make a coaching change. Not sure there are any slam dunk options remaining at this stage.

Eric Bienemy is the only realistic hire on this list. If it were me, I would go hire Dan Mullen from Florida. He knows how to use Dak and maximize talent.

The question would be will JJ and SJ give up football personnel control because they will not be able to get any of those coaches, except for maybe Bienemy who just wants a chance to coach in the NFL... two others would be Ryan Day and Brian Kelly, but they also would want major personnel control.

AS MUCH AS THIS^ INTRIGUES THE HECK OUT OF ME, why oh why would he leave a place where he can do whatever he wants and is a GOD? He would be an absolute idiot to come here from THAT program.

I would go get Mullen, sign Dak long term to a 4 year deal...sign Mullen to the same 4 year deal. They would be tied at the hip...win lose or draw. A package deal.

They are going to pass on firing him this year IMO.

The injuries are an excuse they will use, along with that virus thingy and new schemes and such.
They won't eat all that coaching money up front if they fire him.

If the defense continues this amazing pace, then I could see Nolan getting sent packing after this year, along with one or two assistant coaches.

Do you honestly think Garrett could do better with 12 starters have been out with injuries. and playing 2nd and 3rd team players on the OL?
We would be 0-7 and have lost every game by 30 points or more.

Plus we would not have had the draft that they had for future players.

MM is not going anywhere.

Ryan Day would be a sneaky nice hire. Not opposed to that idea. Brian Kelly is not leaving that program.

Proper title for this thread would be "coaching fantasies" until further notice. There's little to suggest Jerry is going to change coaches after this season. That's not his MO.
