Coaching Quality At The NFL Coaching Ranks

With NFL players - its pretty obvious that talent plus hard work get them to that level.

With NFL coaches - do you think they really are the "best of the best"? Or do you all think its more a matter of being at the right place at the right time and a bit of luck mixed in with that?

With London Fletcher calling out Jim Haslett earlier this season for being "incompetent"...yet Haslett having lasted in the NFL as long as he has, one has to wonder.

Just curious if anybody here coaches football, and what they think of the whole process of promotion in the coaching ranks?

I think coaches are like presidents: They get too much credit when things are good and too much blame when things are bad.

I also find a certain irony in the fact that a modern day Tom Landry would never survive past year 3 in today's NFL, let alone to year 7 when things finally turned around.
