I have been very pro Jerry since about '98, but the reality of this coaching search is indefensible. At least it should be to anyone who looks at the list of coaches from which Jerry is picking.

No other team wants to make these guys their head coaches.

No one in the NFL will consider hiring Turner as a head coach. Phillips is made to be an interim head coach, but I haven't heard his name being mentioned on a list of Head Coaching candidates in years. Garrett was being offerred COLLEGIATE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR jobs. No One mentioned him for a pro Head coaching spot but Jerry. Heck, I don't even know if any college head coaching jobs were even offered to him. (And I don't mean to belittle a collegiate head coaching position. Being a position coach or coordinator is an entirely different skillset than being a head coach. My point is I don't know if anyone else thinks Garret has developed the skillset a headcoach position requires yet.)

I think maybe these guys are some team's 4th or 5th option if they had to change coaches, but what does that make them? I'd say a group culled from what would be the consensus 40th to 90th (or so) leading candidates for an NFL head coaching job.

This is the top name franchise in the NFL!!!!

Where are the existing star candidates we are considering hiring away from their current teams? Are you seriously saying that the only current NFL Head coach we would consider ahead of these guys is Jeff Fisher? Are you saying that no former NFL Head coaches currently not coaching are better than these guys? Find the guys who meets this team's needs and go get him Jerry!

This list of candidates should raise flags for Cowboy fans about how wrong Jerry is doing this. IF you don't want these guys in here, make some noise now! Call your local radio hosts and voice your disgust with these candidates. Jerry DOES listen to the radio. If he started getting skewered in the media relentlessly before he can complete his plan to name a pushover coach in the next week, he MIGHT expand his pool of candidates.

Call the ticket! Call The ball of Hate! Make your disgust with this cesspool of also-rans and never-will-bes Jerry is fishing in known!!!

Almost every media outlet has rubber stamped Norv as HC. Even freaking Galloway, the notorious Cowboy hater, is on board with this hire.

I think Jerry floated the Norv as HC ballon to see what type of response he got. Since most in the Dallas media are on board, it looks like the green light has been given.

Thats my take on it, I could be wrong

Lets see who the lowly AZ cardinals interviewed....

Tennessee offensive coordinator Norm Chow,

Mike Sherman, Houston assistant HC/Former NFL Head coach in GB. Moderate success. Well thought of by many in the league. (I'd rate him ahead of Phillips in terms of league opinion. There are probably many teams that feel he still might be a good NFL head coach. I don't know if anyone is that optimistic about Phillips.)

San Diego offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. One of the hottest names around. Mentioned as a candidate for at least a couple head coaching positions this year.

Pittsburg Offensive Coordinator Ken Whisenhunt. Got the AZ job and was considered one of the front runners for the Pittsburg gig. interviewed in Pittsburgh, Miami, and AZ. Was one of the hottest names going this offseason.

Cardinals defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast.

Superbowl glamourboy Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera

Superbowl participant Indianapolis assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell

Steelers assistant head coach/offensive line coach Russ Grimm another candidate for both the AZ and Pittsburg jobs.

The cardinals also considered Mike singletary, who although the consensus is like Garrett he is a few years away. Unlike Garrett, Singletary was mentioned as a candidate in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Miami.

The majority of names on that list are guys who would be considered in the top 25 to 45 candidates.

And they are the Cardinals.

Sean Payton wanted to hire Jason Garrett as his OC just after he got the H/C job but the Dolphins refused to allow an interview. Don't know whether Payton was interested in Garrett before or after Parcells wouldn't let Payton interview Soprano.

Count me as wanting Phillips as our H/C cause I believe/hope he can fix our 3-4 defense and make it the kind of defense we all hoped it would be. Also, because he's alrady 60 he wouldn't have a problem with Garrett as the "golden boy" in 2-3 years. If our defense was in great shape (but then we would have won at least 1 playoff game if that were the case) then I'd have no problem with Norv since he an offensive guru but that's not the case with the current Cowboys.

NOBODY ELSE wanted Switzer or Campo as HC's either. Gailey hasn't been an NFL HC anywhere but here either.

Jerry's a moron

I don't think you are wrong. It feels like politics where the parties send out their people to talk up an idea in the press and introduce sound bites. I have probably reached a point where either guy -- Norv or Phillips would be the same thing to me. Norv might suck, but he might ****can the 3-4 experiment, and that alone would be worth 3 years of suck to me.

Indy gave permission to interview him.

And the Bears had a bye week so coaches are allowed to be interviewed at that time.

I think Caldwell could be a candidate here too. If the Colts win he will certainly be a top candidate next year regardless of what happens with his interviews this season.
